FUNimation has set a May debut for their latest Blu-ray release, the highly-acclaimed Asian fantasy 'Shinobi.'
An epic tale of forbidden romance set against a centuries-spanning war between two warring ninja clans, 'Shinobi' (also known as 'Heart Under Blade') was a blockbuster in its native Japan in 2005, as well as taking home two Kinema Junpo awards (the country's equivalent of the Oscars) for stars Jo Odagiri and newcomer Erika Sawajiri.
FUNimation has set a retail arrival of May 13 for the Blu-ray (the company previously released 'Shinobi' on standard DVD in February 2007).
No tech specs or supplement details have been announced, although the DVD version contained two discs of features so we hope FUNimation includes some (if not all) of the same extras. We'll keep you posted.
Retail for the Blu-ray has been set at $29.98.
You'll find preliminary specs for 'Shinobi' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under May 13.
