'Mirror's Edge 2,' 'Star Wars: Battlefront,' and even 'Dragon Age: Inquisition' part of these new IPs.
Years ago, EA went crazy and tried some original IPs, including 'Dead Space,' 'Mirror's Edge,' and 'Dante's Inferno.' Since then, the company has been satisfied with just trying a new 'Medal of Honor' every year. Now though, with John Riccitiello out as CEO, new hope has emerged that the massive publisher might try a new game or two.
According to CVG, EA Labels boss Frank Gibeau had been talking about "three and five" new IPs for the next-generation and that number has now grown to half a dozen. These new IPs are not immediately forthcoming from EA, rather some are planned for the second generation of games for the Xbox One and PS4. Of course, new IP is a relative term over at EA, and the three revealed so far don't exactly scream "new."
First, there is 'Mirror's Edge 2,' which is sequel to EA owned, developed (DICE), and published game. Then there is 'Star Wars: Battlefront,' the successor to multiple LucasArts titles. Finally, there is 'Dragon Age: Inquisition,' which is the third in series of EA owned, developed (BioWare) and published games.
The remainder of new IPs seem to include 'Star Wars' games, the new 'UFC' game, and 'Titanfall.'
