Backers will have early access next week.
Tim Schafer's 'Broken Age' has had an odd developmental road already, and the oddness continues. The game has already been broken in two, and the first part will be playable next week in the form of Steam Early Access.
Haven't shipped a game of my own in 4.5 years, an adventure game in 16, a point-n-click in almost 20. Next Tuesday is going to be exciting!

As of right now, early access is for backers, whether they be from the original Kickstarter push or from the more recent slacker backer phase. Presumably, once placed on Steam, non-backers can buy in and continue funding for the second half of the game while obtaining access to the first.
