The eighth chapter in the epic sci-fi saga will be available on home video this March in Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos.
As previously reported, Disney will release Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on March 27, but we have a couple fun updates for you.
First, Disney has confirmed The Last Jedi 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, aka the Ultimate Collectors' Edition, will feature Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio, plus Blu-ray and Digital HD copies of the film. There's no word on whether or not the included Digital Copy will unlock a 4K version, but this is doubtful given previous Disney Digital Copies. Also, for those who are unaware, Dolby Vision 4K Blu-rays are HDR10-compatible for those who don't have Dolby Vision displays.
There is no mention of a 3D release here in North America, so it looks like our 3D fans will be importing.
Next, if you're a cord cutter, The Last Jedi will be available digitally in HD, 4K Ultra HD, and Movies Anywhere on March 13. There's no word on specific retailers, but previous Disney UHD titles are available on VUDU in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. iTunes has, thus far, only offered Disney movies in HD, but given the blockbuster nature of Star Wars films, there's a chance The Last Jedi will be in 4K there too (without Dolby Atmos). We'll have to wait and see about that. The good news is iTunes automatically updates purchases to 4K when available, so if it's not 4K on March 13, it's very likely it will be in the future.
And, here's a description of all the bonus features, provided by Disney:
