Both films will be getting remastered Blu-ray releases this October.
In an early announcement to retailers, Warner Brothers is preparing 'The NeverEnding Story: 30th Anniversary Edition' as well as 'The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter' for Blu-ray on October 7.
The NeverEnding Story: When young Bastian borrows a mysterious, ornately-bound book, he never dreamed turning a page would draw him into a shimmering fantasy world of racing snails, hang-glider bats, soaring luckdragons, puckish elves, a Childlike Empress, the brave warrior Atreyu and a slab-faced walking quarry called a Rock Biter. Follow The NeverEnding Story to the limits of the imagination, thanks to director/co-writer Wolfgang Petersen and a superstar team of technical tinkerers and magicians (with credits including 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien and The Empire Strikes Back).
The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter: Based on Michael Ende's classic children's book, this sequel finds the young hero, Bastian, encountering new adventures in the magical world of fantasia. In this sequel to the 1984 film, our young hero, again bored with the real world, returns to his storybook's magical land of Fantasia and attempts to slay the evils that threaten the extinction of goodness. There he finds a special brand of courage within himself, a reminder of the eternal, optimistic child within us all.
Specs and supplements have yet to be revealed, but both films will be remastered for these releases.
Suggested list price for the Blu-rays is still undetermined at this time.
