Joseph Zito's 1988 actioner starring Dolph Lundgren will explode on Blu-ray in June.
In an early announcement to retailers, Synapse Films has revealed 'Red Scorpion' will be hitting Blu-ray on March 13.
Lundgren stars as a Russian KGB agent is sent to Africa to kill an anti-Communist black revolutionary. However, he has a change of heart when he sees how the Russians and their Cuban allies are killing and repressing the locals, so he switches sides and helps the rebels.
The Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack will feature an all-new high-definition 2k digital restoration, a brand new DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include: Audio Commentary with Director Joseph Zito and Mondo Digital's Nathaniel Thompson; HATH NO FURY – DOLPH LUNDGREN AND THE ROAD TO RED SCORPION Featurette; ASSIGNMENT: AFRICA – Video Interview with Producer Jack Abramoff; SCORPION TALES – Video Interview with Make-Up Effects Artist Tom Savini; Rare Original On-Set Behind-the-Scenes Video Footage; Animated Still Gallery; Liner Notes on the Making of RED SCORPION by Jérémie Damoiseau; Theatrical Trailer and TV Spots; and a Reversible Cover Design.
Suggested list price is still undetermined at this time.
