Upcoming discs starring Elizabeth Moss, Woody Harrelson, Denzel Washington, and more are all heading to Blu-ray.
New info has been revealed for several upcoming Blu-ray releases from MGM, Lionsgate, Sony, Paramount, FUNimation Entertainment, Gunpowder & Sky, Zeitgeist Films, FilmRise, Sumerian Films, Eagle Rock Entertainment, VIZ Pictures, Cinedigm, Cohen Media Group, and Vinegar Syndrome.
Here's a full rundown of recently revealed details and title announcements:
First up, MGM has announced plans to release Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale: Season One starring Elisabeth Moss, Yvonne Strahovski, and Joseph Fiennes. Supplements and an exact release date have not been revealed yet, but the show is now available for pre-order.
Zeitgeist Films is prepping Johnny Ma's Old Stone starring Gang Chen, Nai An, Hongwei Wang, Zebin Zhang, and Xue'er Luo for Blu-ray on January 30. Supplements will include:
- Behind-the-scenes footage
- Gallery of deleted scenes
- "Grand Canal" -- a short film by Johnny Ma
- Original theatrical trailer
In addition, the label will bring Ilppo Pohjola's documentary Daddy and the Muscle Academy to Blu-ray on February 6. The movie will be digitally restored from the original camera negative, and supplements will include:
- Interview with Tom of Finland (93 minutes)
- Tom of Finland Sketch Slideshow
- Original Trailer
Gunpowder & Sky is set to release Tyler MacIntyre's Tragedy Girls starring Brianna Hildebrand, Alexandra Shipp, Josh Hutcherson, Craig Robinson, and Kevin Durand on February 2. No other details have been revealed at this time.
Sony has announced plans to release Rob Reiner's LBJ starring Woody Harrelson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Richard Jenkins, Bill Pullman, and Jeffrey Donovan on February 6. No supplements have been listed at this time.
In addition, the studio will bring Dan Gilroy's Roman J. Israel, Esq. starring Denzel Washington, Colin Farrell, Lynda Gravatt, Amanda Warren, and Hugo Armstrong to Blu-ray on February 13. Supplements will include:
- Eight Deleted Scenes
- Three Featurettes
Meanwhile, Timothy Reckart's animated film The Star featuring Oprah Winfrey, Zachary Levi, Tyler Perry, and Steven Yeun is set to arrive on February 20. No other details have been revealed at this time.
Lionsgate is prepping Gary J. Tunnicliffe's Hellraiser: Judgement starring Randy Wayne, Heather Langenkamp, Paul T. Taylor, and Rheagan Wallace for Blu-ray on February 13. Supplements will include:
- Deleted and Extended Scenes
- Gag Reel
Sumerian Records is preparing Ash Avildsen's American Satan starring Andy Biersack, Booboo Stewart, Ben Bruce, John Bradley, and Malcolm McDowell for Blu-ray on February 20. Supplements have not been announced yet.
As previously reported, Paramount is set to release Daddy's Home 2 starring Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, John Lithgow, Mel Gibson, Linda Cardellini, and John Cena on February 20, and now the studio has also announced plans to release a Daddy's Home Two Movie Collection with the original film as well. Bonus features will likely mirror those found on the individual releases.
Eagle Rock Entertainment will bring the concert film One Republic: Live In South Africa to Blu-ray on February 23. Supplements will include:
- Don't Look Down (Mini-documentary)
- Wherever I Go (Live in Sydney)
Cinedigm will release Kevin Sorbo's Let There Be Light starring Kevin Sorbo, Sam Sorbo, Dionne Warwick, Travis Tritt, and Michael Franzese on February 27. No other details have been announced at this time.
Cohen Media Group is preparing Hou Hsiao-hsien's Daughter of the Nile starring Lin Yang, Jack Kao, and Chen Shu-Fang for Blu-ray on March 20. The disc will feature a new 4K restoration of the film, and supplements will include:
- NEW interview with Asian Cinema expert Tony Rayns
- Audio commentary by film scholar Richard Suchenski
- Restoration re-release trailer
FUNimation Entertainment is bringing Bungo Stray Dogs: Season One starring Kaiji Tang, Brian Beacock, and Max Mittelman to Blu-ray on March 6. In addition, a Limited Edition version will also be released that same day in a collectible art box including an art book with illustrations and series information and a set of premium author bookmarks. Supplements for both editions will include:
- Promo videos
- Commercials
- Textless opening and closing songs
- Trailers
Likewise, FUNimation is prepping Hand Shakers: The Complete Series starring Justin Briner, Lara Woodhull, and Alejandro Saab for Blu-ray on March 20. Supplements will include:
- Episode 13 - Go ago Go
- Episode 13 Preview
- Textless opening and closing songs
- Trailers
Viz Pictures will release Hiroyuki Seshita's Blame! starring Sora Amamiya, Kana Hanazawa, and Tasuku Hatanaka on March 27. Supplements will include:
- Behind the Scenes Featurette
- Japanese Trailers
- Art Gallery
Finally, Vinegar Syndrome is prepping Norman J. Warren's Prey starring Barry Stokes, Sally Faulkner, Glory Annen, Sandy Chinney, and Eddie Stacey for Blu-ray on February 27. The special limited edition embossed package (designed by Derek Gabryszak) will be limited to just 1,500 units, and the disc is set to feature a newly scanned and restored 2k transfer sourced from the 35mm negative. Supplements will include:
- Commentary track with: Norman J. Warren (director) and Sally Faulkner (actress)
- “Directing the Prey” – interview with Norman J. Warren
- “Becoming the Prey” – interview with Sally Faulkner
- “Producing the Prey” – interview with Terry Marcel (producer)
- Original theatrical trailer
- Reversible cover artwork
