The acclaimed Swiss documentary making Oscar buzz will hit Blu-ray on Christmas Eve.
In an early announcement to retailers, Kino has scheduled 'More Than Honey' for Blu-ray on December 24.
In 'More Than Honey,' filmmaker Markus Imhoof tackles the vexing issue of why bees, worldwide, are facing extinction. With the tenacity of a man out to solve a great mystery, he investigates this global phenomenon, from California to Switzerland, China and Australia. Exquisite macro-photography of the bees (reminiscent of Microcosmos) in flight and in their hives reveals a fascinating, complex world in crisis. The film shows a detailed look at the breeding of queen bees, the laboratory process of a bee brainscan, and a hive facing the infection of mites.
Specs have yet to be revealed, but supplements include: Interview with director Markus Imhoof; Deleted Scenes; Two Making of Programs; Image Gallery; Original German-language version; and English version, with narration by actor John Hurt (Alien, The Elephant Man).
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $34.95.
