In an early announcement to retailers, 20th Century Fox is preparing 'The Book Thief' for Blu-ray on March 11.
The 550-page, World War II-era novel, narrated by Death, tells the story of Liesel Meminger from the time she is taken at age 9 to live with a foster family in a German working-class neighborhood. Liesel arrives having just stolen her first book, "The Gravediggers Handbook" -- it will be the beginning of a love affair with books.
The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a lossless 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include: Deleted Scenes, A Hidden Truth: Bringing The Book, Thief to Life, and Original Theatrical Trailer.
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $39.99.
