The '80s arcade is coming back to Blu-ray, with Digital Leisure setting a June release date for the videogame sequel 'Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp.'
A follow-up to the landmark animated arcade adventure 'Dragon's Lair,' 'Dragon's Lair II' combines hand-drawn 2-D animation from the Don Bluth Studios with laserdisc-based technology. 'Time Warp' again allowed gamers to pilot the heroic Dirk the Daring on a series of adventures using simple joystick commands, only this time with a futuristic theme.
Digital Leisure will release 'Dragon's Lair II' on Blu-ray June 23.
As with their previous high-def releases of 'Dragon's Lair' and 'Space Ace,' 'Dragon's Lair II' has undergone a frame-by-frame restoration in 1080p video done by Digital Leisure and authoring studio Infinite HD. The disc will also include a restored Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track taken from the game's original audio elements.
Supplements exclusive to the new Blu-ray include brand-new interviews with game creators Don Bluth, Gary Goldman and Rick Dyer, a picture-in-picture track, animatic of a rare scene, and the ability to play the game as in the arcade, or watch the animation uninterrupted.
Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $28.95.
