The folks at Comcast aren’t pulling any punches when it comes to 3D, or when talking about DirecTV.
Comcast has a lot going for it this year. The ever expanding cable giant, who now owns NBC Universal, is riding high on its recent victories. Comcast has been announcing future plans, bragging about current offerings, and even talking a little smack.
When it comes to 3D programming, Comcast wants to be number one. “Much like high-def,” says Comcast senior VP Derek Harrar, “we will have more 3D content than anyone else. Our plan this year is to have a persistent 3D offering.”
Comcast isn’t the only company that’s going into 3D though. DirecTV has made some bold claims about the future of 3D on their service. When asked about DirecTV, Harrar responded with “We love it when DirecTV is trying to follow us into a new space,” adding "They have launched vapor, they have not launched anything. They just said they are going to be launching 3D. We've had 3D.”
Harrar makes it a point to note that Comcast is a leader in 3D, and plans to stay that way. “We've been really driving 3D from its very beginning and we are going to keep going.”
