It's a new record once again for the Child's Play charity, beating out last year's offerings by over half a million dollars.
The Child's Play charity had a strong run through 2011, starting with a strong showing during launch events and then an incredible amount of donations at the yearly dinner. On December 21st, the charity reached its goal of $2.2 million, but that was just the beginning.
In the days surrounding Christmas, gamers really pulled together for one last push. In just one week the total went from $2.2 million to a whopping $2,960,000. That update is from December 28th, and it's almost certain that the last $40k came in between then and now to hit the $3 million mark.
It's a massive accomplishment for the charity and it all goes to help put some smiles on the faces of sick children across the country as well as a few in Canada, the U.K., Egypt, Australia and New Zealand. The holidays may be over, but you can donate to Child's Play year round if you're feeling in the giving spirit.
