Sales pace blows away the original 'Dead Rising.'
Shipments of 'Dead Rising 3' are now over one million copies, and sales are likely to continue their brisk pace with alongside the Xbox One. This week's updates to the game and the release of the first DLC episode should help sales as well. Shipments for the series as a whole are now over 7 million copies.
'Dead Rising 3' was released in November, and it has taken only two months to reach the one million shipped mark. In comparison, the original 'Dead Rising' was released in August 2006 and hit one million shipped the following December. 'Dead Rising 3,' of course, is not yet available in Japan among several other territories.
From Capcom, "As a title solely for a new-generation game system, "Dead Rising 3" has an unprecedented number of zombies and the most expansive game world yet in the franchise. There are also online capabilities, more advanced Kinect™ features, Xbox SmartGlass™ integration and a host of other gameplay features that dramatically enhance the realism of the experience. User response has been strong as expected for a title made for a new-generation game system; cumulative number of hours played is more than 14 million worldwide. Offering a high quality gameplay experience with the launch of a new generation of hardware has earned strong support among consumers. As a result, shipments of "Dead Rising 3" have topped one million units in just over one month after its release, making this Capcom's 62nd million-selling title."
