GameFly's digital PC client, descended from Direct2Drive, ends its public open beta today and goes live for all users.
While the client is another choice for a digital platform for PC and Mac game ownership, its unique feature is a tie-in with the GameFly service. A selection of the 1500 titles is available for GameFly subscribers to download and use as part of their subscription. (Think about when Netflix initial offered their online streaming) When I tried the beta last year, the most exciting title that was available was 'The Shadow of the Colossus' inspired 'Prince of Persia' from a few years ago.
To celebrate the public launch of their client and incentivize usage, GameFly is offering the first 'Bioshock' free to own for anyone who downloads the client. In case anyone has forgotten, 'Bioshock' is an Unreal 3 stunner of a game and free is a hard price to beat.
