One of eight 2600 classics will be reborn on Clueless Gamer: Retro.
Conan O'Brien' Clueless Gamer has tackled some of the year's biggest releases, and now the focus shifts to the biggest releases of yesteryear. After asking for some Atari-era suggestions, the resulting list of eight game's is ready to receive votes. The winning Atari title will be featured in its own Clueless Gamer segment.
From Team Coco, "Clueless Gamer is going RETRO: Conan and assistant nerd Aaron Bleyaert will be firing up an Atari 2600 and playing a bunch of classics from the Golden Age of gaming. Yesterday we asked for your Atari game suggestions via social media and were overwhelmed by the response. Below are the finalists; vote NOW for the game you want the maestro and his minion to play the most in this special throwback episode."
Sadly, the list does not include the game most appropriate for Conan and Aaron, 'Maze Craze.' The list does, however, contain a number of well-known Atari titles including, 'Pong,' 'Burger Time,' 'Pitfall,' 'Custer's Revenge,' 'Frogger,' 'E.T.,' 'Dig Dug,' and 'Joust.'
The list is full of successful and frequently ported titles, but two of the games are more infamous than cherished. 'Custer's Revenge' is one the most reviled games known to exist, and 'E.T.' is thought to still be ruinning game experiences from its landfill.
There is no telling if this "special throwback episode" will get a retro-themed sequel or two. For now the poll is still open.
