LA9700 models on sale at weekend event in Santa Monica.
Following up on their first 4K offering, the 84-inch $20K 84LM9600, LG has brought their two new UHD models to the US, or at least to one store in the US. At a weekend event kicking off today, LG is offering its 55 and 65-inch LA9700 at Video & Audio Center in Santa Monica, CA. A national offering of the new models is expected to follow in the coming months.
LG is pushing its two new models as "the first full-backlit LED array" UHD models built with an IPS design. The models also support local dimming through LG's NANO LED design, and LG is confident that its upscaler's four-step process is the cure for the current dearth of 4K content. These models contain a 4.1 speaker set-up hidden in the back of the sets that slide into view when in use.
The sets are H.265 compatible, which sets them as a nice choice for those interested in the upcoming codec. The sets ship with LG's voice control centric Magic Remote and are 3D compatible.
The 55- inch LA0700 is priced at $6,000, and the 65-inch is priced at $8,000.
