The month started off a little slow, but the announcements sure have picked up some steam in the last little while. In case you have missed any of those, here is a greatest hits compilation of what's coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray in the coming weeks.
But as always, keep an eye on our release calendars for more goodies that may not be covered below.
The biggest (and certainly pink-est) movie of the year so far is Greta Gerwig's Barbie - which arrives on Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray in a few days on October 17. You can read all about that release announcement in our coverage here.
We obviously have to follow that announcement with Christopher Nolan's explosive Oppenheimer. Look for that film on Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 21.
On December 5, the final adventure for Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will hit home video. There will be a Blu-ray, 4K UHD Blu-ray, Best Buy Exclusive 4K UHD SteelBook, and a Walmart Exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray that includes an enamel pin.
The Criterion Collection has announced their Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray releases for January 2024. This month includes Chantal Akerman Masterpieces, 1968–1978 and Dee Rees' Mudbound on Blu-ray, Danny Boyle's Trainspotting, and John Sayles's Lone Star on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, and 4K upgrades of Satyajit Ray's The Apu Trilogy and Joel and Ethan Coen's Blood Simple.
Paramount's animated hit Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will be available on Blu-ray, 4K UHD Blu-ray, and 4K UHD SteelBook on December 12 just in time for the holiday season. Pizza is not included, however.
Randall Park's critically-acclaimed comedy Shortcomings from Sony Pictures Classics is now available for purchase. The film stars Justin H. Min, Sherry Cola, and Ally Maki and is from a screenplay by Adrian Tomine. And Universal's The Last Voyage of the Demeter - a different spin on Bram Stoker's Dracula - has also sailed to Blu-ray. Both are available now.
Sony's dramedy The Miracle Club is coming to Blu-ray only on November 7. Of the film set in 1967 stars Laura Linney, Kathy Bates and Maggie Smith.
Rob Reiner's classic Stand By Me based on the novella by Stephen King is getting a limited edition 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook this winter. The release will be available on December 5.
Lionsgate's Expend4bles has been dated and detailed for 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray releasing November 21. There will be a Best Buy exclusive SteelBook, Amazon exclusive with a bonus disc of supplements are, and a Walmart exclusive SteelBook with the four films in the franchise (so far). Steven Spielberg's The Color Purple as well as James Cameron's Titanic are getting a 4K UHD Blu-ray upgrade, with the latter also getting a limited edition collector's set with some swag. Both of these iconic classics will be available December 5.
Jigsaw is back with a vengeance in Saw X starring Tobin Bell - bringing some of his most twisted games yet to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on November 21. This one is definitely not for the squeamish and you can get the full details about those releases here.
German label Turbine has 4K UHD SteelBooks for both Renfield and Pearl coming in December. Those should be available for pre-order now and will have Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos. Rob Reiner's When Harry Met Sally has a 4K Limited Edition Mediabook coming and Terry Gilliam's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is also getting a few Mediabooks. Read about those here.
