It’s a good week to be a Netflix subscriber. Almost nothing of worth is heading off the service this week. But there are still a few shows and movies worth checking out, whether you’re looking for one of the most wholesome shows ever made or one of the most deviant movies I’ve ever seen.<\/p>\n
Saccharine sweet and wholesome to the point of ludicrous, ‘Leave it to Beaver<\/a>‘ is a show beloved by those wanting to remember the image of a simpler time. It’s a classic, and has defined many of the classic sitcom stories we’re still seeing today. Unfortunately, streaming the show isn’t quite perfect, since certain episodes are disc only.<\/p>\n From the always moral ‘Leave it to Beaver’ to a movie that’s anything but \u2013 ‘Ichi the Killer<\/a>‘ is the film that put the bizarre director Takashi Miike on my radar. (He’s also directed ‘Sukiyaki Western Django<\/a>‘ and ‘Audition<\/a>‘.) ‘Ichi’ is disturbing on many fronts. It features a sadomasochistic crime lord and a cowardly man named Ichi, who becomes a brutal killer when enraged. This movie isn’t for the faint of heart \u2013 or of stomach.
