After having just wrapped up the new revival of ‘Twin Peaks’, veteran character actor and beloved screen presence Harry Dean Stanton passed away on Friday at the age of 91.

With nearly 200 screen credits spanning from the 1950s to present, Stanton had a long and prolific career. Some of his most memorable roles included ‘Alien<\/a>‘, ‘Repo Man<\/a>‘, ‘Paris, Texas<\/a>‘, ‘Red Dawn<\/a>‘, ‘Pretty in Pink’ (inexplicably absent from Blu-ray), and five seasons as a villainous polygamist leader in HBO’s ‘Big Love’. He was consistently excellent in all of them. <\/p>\n Stanton was a regular collaborator with David Lynch, appearing in the director’s ‘Wild at Heart<\/a>‘, ‘Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me<\/a>‘, ‘Hotel Room<\/a>‘, ‘The Straight Story<\/a>‘, and ‘Inland Empire<\/a>‘. Even though his part was essentially a walk-on cameo in ‘Fire Walk With Me’, Lynch had the actor reprise the character and expand the role for the new season of ‘Twin Peaks’ on Showtime. <\/p>\n In 2012, he was the subject of the biographical documentary ‘Harry Dean Stanton: Partly Fiction’.<\/p>\n Stanton’s 91 years were hard-lived, and he was never afraid of showing just how much so on camera. Quite frankly, he looked on the verge of death for at least the last decade and a half, but somehow kept hanging in, working steadily right up to the end. His agent confirmed his death from natural causes on Friday.<\/p>\n
