I certainly don&#8217;t have anything that can top that. However, more to our interests here, Amazon Canada also released a wave of exclusive Blu-ray SteelBooks. Does one offset the other? Not hardly, but they&#8217;ve both grabbed my attention.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The good news for metal case collectors who reside in the United States is that, unlike Canadian retailer Future Shop, Amazon Canada <em>will<\/em> ship across the border, so these should be very easy to import. Also, because Canada is in the same Blu-ray region as the U.S., all of these discs are guaranteed to be Region A compatible. (Whether they&#8217;re region-free for other territories or not, I can&#8217;t confirm.)<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, a couple of Amazon user reviews for at least one of these titles (&#8216;Terminator 2&#8217;) claim that the case has a dull matte finish that doesn&#8217;t look nearly as nice as the promotional photos for it. I suspect that may be true of the rest of them as well. <\/p>\n<h5>&#8216;Apocalypse Now&#8217;<\/h5>\n<p>Available at: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.ca\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B00FXCJR54\/panandscathed-20\">Amazon Canada<\/a><br \/>\nRelease date: November 5, 2013<br \/>\nPrice: CND$22.55 <\/p>\n<p>The SteelBook copy of Francis Ford Coppola&#8217;s war masterpiece contains both the theatrical and &#8216;Redux&#8217; versions of the movie, which should appear on the same disc via seamless branching. As far as I can tell, it doesn&#8217;t include either of the other supplement discs from the 2010 <a href=\"https:\/\/bluray.highdefdigest.com\/3761\/apocalypse_disclosure.html\">Full Disclosure Edition<\/a>, which were chock-full of goodies. As such, this is really only good for the case itself, the art on which is fortunately an improvement over the ugly Full Disclosure box. Normally, I&#8217;d say that&#8217;s a good thing, but this one is kind of hideous. The image looks more appropriate for the sequels than the original. (Only the crummy English dub got a lossless track.) I&#8217;m pretty sure that the Canadian release from Alliance was a direct port of that. <\/p>\n<p>The SteelBook case features the movie&#8217;s standard home video art. I watched it once years ago, and its appeal completely mystifies me. The differences are minor. The old SteelBook had an ugly blue banner at the top and printed the movie&#8217;s title in both English and French on the spine. If given the choice, I&#8217;d pick the new one.
