Gack. Nate had to suffer the task of reviewing that one. Better him than me. Do the poor guy a favor and click that link to read his review, even if you have no intention of buying the disc. Don’t let his hard work go completely to waste.

I’ve heard great things about ‘Greenberg‘ from writer/director Noah Baumbach, but haven’t had the change to watch it yet. Drew loved it. I need to check that one out.

One-time art house darling Atom Egoyan hasn’t had much success reclaiming critical favor since his masterpiece ‘The Sweet Hereafter’. Pretty much everything he’s made since then has been met with indifference. He tries again with the erotic thriller ‘Chloe‘, starring Julianne Moore, Amanda Seyfried and Liam Neeson. The reviews were fairly scathing during its theatrical run. Aaron reviewed the Blu-ray and found it passable.

I’ve watched a few episodes of ‘White Collar‘ on broadcast. It’s one of those shows that I’ll stop for if I happen across it, but won’t go out of my way to record each week. I would personally also not go out of my way to buy it on Blu-ray either, but that’s not to say that it’s a bad series or that fans should avoid it. It’s just not high on my list of priorities.

The week also gives us two pretty good catalog titles. Christopher Nolan’s remake of ‘Insomnia‘, starring Al Pacino and Robin Williams, is arguably better than the Norwegian original. Well, at least I thought so. It’s a nifty thriller, all the same. And ‘In Bruges‘ is just about the only movie that even people who can’t stand Colin Farrell will agree that he’s great in. It’s a very dark and very funny black comedy about a pair of hit men biding their time after a particularly bad job by hiding out in a historical tourist trap in Belgium. If you haven’t seen it, be sure to give it a look.

That’s all for this week. Next week will give us a couple of interesting Criterion releases and a whole lot of worthless crap. See you then.

This is a pretty slow week on the Blu-ray front.
