There’s a lot of movement in the Netflix stream this week. Most of that seems to be children’s TV shows or movies that just aren’t worth mentioning, but a few stand out.

  1. ‘Apollo 13’ (12\/27):<\/strong> You may know him as the father of Colin Hanks, but Tom proves that he’s also got what it takes in this little known 1995 film. Naah, you know better than that. ‘Apollo 13<\/a>‘ is loved by moviegoers and critics everywhere. It’s a fine movie that features a ridiculous amount of talent. If you’ve not watched it since the original release 16 years ago, you’ve still got a few days to take it out for a spin.<\/li>\n
  2. ‘Slap Shot’ (12\/26):<\/strong> I’ve never cared about hockey as a sport. I’ve dabbled in basketball and I run a fantasy football team despite never watching a game, but hockey just doesn’t do it for me. Unless, of course, there’s a movie about it. ‘Slap Shot<\/a>‘ has a bit of a ‘Wrestler’ vibe to it, with Paul Newman playing the Mickey Rourke part\u2026 and about hockey instead of wrestling<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. ‘Cave of Forgotten Dreams’:<\/strong> I’ve been meaning to see a Werner Herzog film, but I just haven’t gotten around to it. I’ve seen ‘Burden of Dreams’ more than once and been fascinated by it, but I’ve not seen a film by the man himself. ‘Cave of Forgotten Dreams<\/a>‘ is a documentary that takes you inside a cave with the oldest man-made images that have been found. It’s on my queue and I think the upcoming holiday weekend will give me more than enough time to watch it.<\/li>\n
    2. ‘Best Worst Movie’:<\/strong> For a long time, ‘Troll 2’ held a special place in my heart as my favorite terrible movie. It’s since by usurped by ‘The Room’, but it still stands as one of the best bad movies around. The documentary ‘Best Worst Movie<\/a>‘ explores the phenomenon of ‘Troll 2’ and catches up with some of the people involved. This is an essential watch, if just for the director’s constant assertion that ‘Troll 2’ is, in fact, a great movie. Oh, and if somehow you’ve never seen ‘Troll 2<\/a>‘, it’s available streaming as well.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
