This is quite a week for gamers who dig action and adventure. The major releases include a sequel to the largest PS3 exclusive game ever, a refresh, and some dwarfs and elves. Two of these titles have me pretty excited about this fine week for gaming!

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (PS3)

It’s been over two years since ‘Uncharted 2: Among Thieves’ came out. The first ‘Uncharted’ was great, the second was fantastic, and I have high hopes for this third installment. PlayStation Home recently gave us a little teaser with the Total Game Integration. If you finished all the challenges, you have a little reward awaiting you. If you have a PlayStation 3 and somehow have missed this third-person-action-platformer series, you have a LOT of fun work to do. Don’t delay!

Lord of the Rings: War in the North (PS3, 360, PC)

I’ve never been a big role-playing videogame fan. The closest I’ve come are ‘Fallout’ and ‘Borderlands’. Apparently, Snowblind Studios (‘Justice League Heroes’) and Warner Bros. have put together a ‘LotR’ game where you can play one of three characters, each with his own character class. Sorry, that’s the extent of my knowledge on this one.

GoldenEye 007: Reloaded (PS3, 360)

OK, so there was a Nintendo 64 game called ‘GoldenEye’ that kicked ass in 1997 and then, last year, the developer wrangled an updated version into a Wii game. Now it would appear that the Wii version has been refreshed for the PS3 and 360. It’s a First Person Shooter where you run around as James Bond, of course. This refresh seems to have packed in all the usual goodies, including achievements/trophies, high-def graphics, new modes (both multi-player and single player) and even some PlayStation Move compatibility. (Sorry, Kinect-ers. No love for you.) The trailers make the graphics look decently improved, but I have to wonder if the game has enough goodies to make this a full price title. (The anniversary version of ‘Halo’ is only $40.) Or is this all just helping to pay for Daniel Craig’s surely hefty voice work salary. Regardless, I’ll give it a go.

Wayne here, filling in for Dick on the Videogame Releases update this week.
