Netflix gives us a pretty fair shake this week. We lose a few classics, but in return get some great movies and TV shows from the last year or so. That’s not a bad trade.

  1. ‘Kelly’s Heroes’ (6\/21):<\/strong> This is one of those movies that I remember watching with my dad back when I was a kid. ‘Kelly’s Heroes<\/a>‘ is sort of a send-up of war movies that take themselves just a bit too seriously. Clint Eastwood may be the first name on the marquee, but Donald Sutherland steals the show. <\/li>\n
  2. ‘Starship Troopers’ (6\/21):<\/strong> Full disclosure: I hate ‘Starship Troopers<\/a>‘.I think it’s dull and crass and heavy-handed. I’m told that I “don’t get it” and that it’s a brilliant movie, so I thought it was important to mention that it’s going to be off the stream starting next week.     Entering the Stream<\/h5>\n

    1. ‘The Social Network’ (6\/20):<\/strong> There were scant few who didn’t praise this movie when it was released last year. ‘The Social Network<\/a>‘ is like a ‘Pirates of Silicon Valley’ for a whole new generation, with a bigger budget and far more praise. It’s full of drama and intrigue and all sorts of other exciting things, like fast, clipped dialogue from Jesse Eisenberg. If you haven’t seen it, now’s the time. (Read Blu-ray review.<\/a>)\n<\/li>\n
    2. ‘Louie’ (6\/21):<\/strong> This is an incredibly unconventional show, but ‘Louie<\/a>‘ is one of the most interesting and entertaining things to hit TV in some time. It’s also flat-out daring in some cases, especially in terms of its brutal honesty and willingness to deal with difficult situations over the backdrop of comedy. Give it an episode or two.
