As I revealed in my recent Blu-ray review<\/a>, ‘Dune’ is my favorite movie. No, it’s not the best movie I’ve ever seen, but it is my favorite, for reasons that I spelled out pretty thoroughly in the review. Please go ahead and read that before feeling the need to crap all over the comments for this post, thank you.<\/p>\n

‘Dune’ is my #1 movie obsession. Over the years, I’ve amassed a sizable collection of memorabilia and merchandise<\/a> related to it. I recently obtained a significant amount of production art and documents, including some original sketches in David Lynch’s hand. I have (very large) original blueprints for sets and props, and hundreds of photos taken by the continuity photographer. <\/p>\n

By this point, there’s very little about the movie that I don’t know or haven’t seen. That is, until a friend of mine sent me this link to a 6-minute reel of Sean Young’s Super 8 home movies from the set<\/a>. No, I don’t know what the deal is with the ‘Keystone Kops’ music, or why Young’s narration cuts in and out. Even so, there’s some priceless footage in there. Kyle MacLachlan looks so shockingly young, doesn’t he? Not to mention Lynch himself. Can you believe that somebody gave this guy the reigns to what was (in its day) one of the most expensive movie productions of all time?<\/p>\n

Forgive my fanboy nerdgasm, but I think this is pretty cool. <\/p>\n
