Not too shabby. Meanwhile, ‘Robin Hood’ (which I still haven’t seen), made $36 million. Guess ‘Robin Hood’ needed to rob more from the rich…

The other big releases this week performed around how you’d expect. The gooey Amanda Seyfried romance ‘Letters to Juliet’ came in at third with $13.2 million, and the Fox romantic comedy ‘Just Wright’ nabbed the spot right after it with $8.2 million. The rest of the Top 10 doesn’t look all that different from last week.

It’s interesting to think about the continued success of ‘How to Train Your Dragon.’ I wonder if this week’s release of ‘Shrek Forever After’ might cannibalize 3-D screens from ‘Dragon’ (since they’re both DreamWorks Animation films). And on the subject of family fare, ‘Furry Vengeance’ seems to be rapidly leaving the Top 10 altogether. I guess it takes more than some animal poop jokes and Brendan Fraser to keep people happy. We’ll see how this week’s big new films, ‘MacGruber’ and ‘Shrek Forever After’, affect the box office next week.

01 ‘Iron Man 2’ (Marvel Studios) – $49 million

02 ‘Robin Hood’ (Universal) – $36 million

03 ‘Letters to Juliet’ (Summit) – $13.2 million

04 ‘Just Wright’ (Fox) – $8.2 million

05 ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ (Warner Bros) – $4.6 million

06 ‘Date Night’ (Fox) – $4 million

07 ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ (DreamWorks Animation) – $5.2

08 ‘The Back-Up Plan’ (CBS) – $2.5 million

09 ‘Furry Vengeance’ (Summit) – $2.1 million

10 ‘Clash of the Titans’ (Warner Bros) – $1.1 million

Russell Crowe may have premiered his newfangled, by all accounts entirely humorless ‘Robin Hood’ at Cannes this weekend, but it wasn’t enough for him to steal the #1 slot from wealthy industrialist Tony Stark.
