Reports claim that moviegoing was down in the first Quarter on 2013, but this weekend might signal a better Q2. Both a remake and a re-release opened strongly and defied the downward box office trend.
Easter weekend has taught us that Cobra will rise again, that Tyler Perry’s temptations are hard to resist, and that Stephenie Meyer is less popular than we thought she was.
With such a lack of family films this year, there was never any doubt as to which movie would win the weekend. Surprisingly, it was a pretty big box office weekend all around.
The season of so-called summer blockbusters gets earlier and earlier with each year. Between now and May, almost every weekend contains at least one over-priced flick that we wouldn’t typically see until summer.
Say what you want about ‘A Good Day to Die Hard’, but I enjoyed it for the big dumb (emphasis on “dumb”) action movie it was. If it left you unsatisfied, yearning more quips, one-liners, profanity and R-rat...
