Happy Thanksgiving to Hdd staff & readers as well. I just want to pick up a few 10 dollar blockbusters that i let slip through the cracks and maybe take advantage of the Screen Archives sale and finally pick up Zardoz, At Close Range, House of Bamboo, and maybe U Turn. I also want to order the 3d space pirate flick even though its not on sale (preorder). Hopefully I’ll snag up some cheap and unexpected surprises as well.

Thank you Josh, I’m not sure why I didn’t receive that email as I am on their mailing list. At any rate I think I may pick up a Hombre, Fat City and Angel which I’ve never seen but am curious to after reading your review. At half-off the regular price I’m willing to risk a blind-buy. Happy Thanksgiving you guys.

The email was sent out on 11/20. Maybe check your spam filter to see if it got trapped there?

I need to pick up Purple Rose of Cairo and Fabulous Baker Boys from this sale.

For the first time in a few years, I’m skipping out on Black Friday – online and store – in order to focus on maintaining a turkey coma all weekend while gorging on football. (It may also have something to do with my not finding any compelling deals this year. Perhaps Cyber Monday will be better.) Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

  3. Hey Josh, there’s a UK ‘Zardoz’ too (which, including shipping, will be cheaper for me – Twilight charges $10 to Belgium). The special features are mostly similar the main difference: I’d lose the new audio commentary, but would gain new interviews. What would you do? Opt for the UK ‘Zardoz’? Or is the new audio commentary well worth the time, effort and moneyz?

I just want to wish the staff at HDD, and all of the people who frequent this site, a Happy Thanksgiving. Eat plenty of leftovers and most of all be safe!

Jesus, I jumped the shark this Black Friday!! So Wednesday night I picked up Mockinjay part 1 at Best Buy for about 10 bucks and stopped at Target and picked up Dope for 11 bucks. My plan for this Best Buy trip after Thanksgiving was to get there at 5:00 and pick up Furious 7, Cinderella, Entourage, Get Hard, True Detective season 1 for 9.99, Birdman $6, Orange is the New Black season 2 $5, The Princess Bride $4, and Taken 3 for $6.

What I didn’t expect was that they had Band of Brothers and The Pacific blus for 10 bucks a pop. While I was at it I picked up Fargo remastered $4, Night At the Museum 3 $6, Captain Phillips and Monuments Men two for 5.99, Walking Dead season 2 $10, Divergent $6, Run all Night, Unfinished Business, Magic Mike XXL , and Horrible Bosses 2 all 7.99.

Last and certainly least I picked up Jim Carrey’s Remastered Grinch flick for I think 6 bucks. God knows why I picked that one up. I’m most excited about the HBO series I picked up for 10 bucks. I had also picked up a bunch of stuff for my nephews.

It was a pretty smooth “Black Thursday” at the stores. Practically my whole family came along for the ride. The lines moved very quickly with no drama and I would say it was one of the easier and more pleasant holiday shopping experiences in the past few years. The only thing I regret is that I tapped into my Screen Archives sale budget.

    • If you ‘jumped the shark’ on Black Friday, that would mean there was a moment of decline or desperation in your Black Friday experience. Seeing how you scored many bargains, I’d say you did anything but jump the shark 😉

I bought a lot of stuff that I normally wouldn’t be interested in, but the enticing prices put me in a buying frenzy. e.g. Grinch, Divergent, Magic Mike. Those were moments of decline for sure, hence a little shark jumpy for me 🙂
