Star Wars: The Last Jedi

SteelBook Alert: Sweet and Sour Porg

Simultaneously the most popular and the most hated movie of 2017, the latest installment in the ‘Star Wars’ saga will come to Blu-ray and Ultra HD in SteelBook form soon. Be honest, even if you didn’t like the film, your collector’s impulse will still compel you to buy it. Search your feelings. You know it to be true.

How will your video shelf look with all the other ‘Star Wars’ movies (even the prequels you never plan to watch again!) lined up in SteelBook cases, yet this one missing? Not good. You won’t be able to abide that omission.

USA

Best Buy gets the North American SteelBook exclusive with Blu-ray and 4k editions. They’re the same case, just a different cardboard backer. Neither includes 3D. The artwork is perhaps a little busy, but I like it.

Video Formats: Blu-ray/DVD/Digital (no 3D)
Available at: Best Buy (ORDER HERE)
Release date: March 27, 2018
Price: $29.99

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Blu-ray SteelBook

Video Formats: Blu-ray/UHD/Digital (no 3D)
Available at: Best Buy (ORDER HERE)
Release date: March 27, 2018
Price: $34.99

Star Wars: The Last Jedi 4k UHD SteelBook

UK

Across the pond, Zavvi has its own SteelBook case that currently claims different artwork. I think I like the American version better, but this one’s OK. I suspect that there’s a chance this isn’t the final image and the actual release will sync up in all territories, as has happened on other movies before.

If you want 3D, this is the way to go. Disney will not release the 3D version of the movie in North America at all. Sadly, there is no comprehensive Blu-ray/UHD/3D package bundled all together.

I’ve preordered the 3D copy, figuring that it’ll likely to be the hardest to obtain later. I’m sure it will be easy enough to acquire a UHD disc to put in the case if I want.

I definitely dig the BestBuy one more. Kind of makes me wish they went with the same approach for the TFA steelbook instead of Kylo Ren’s face and light saber.

So far I’ve resisted pre-ordering Josh. Not buying it would subvert my expectations and that is most appropriate for this film.

Add Josh, add some porq lo mein and flied lice to my order please.

    Josh,

I have yet to order from Zavvi as I am not all that into steel books … but I am still into 3D. Do you have a region free blu ray player or are all the disks from Zavvi region free?

    Thanks

  4. Too bad the movie is garbage. First Star Wars release I don’t want to own. Wish they would release Rogue One as Dolby Vision 4K. I’d love to see a Star Wars movie that looks amazing, but can’t stomach another viewing of this.

So I know I have this preordered, I just cannot remember from where. These prices for steelbookss, though, especially from the UK, feel very high to me. I am pretty sure I have it preordered on both 3D and UHD. I just wish I could remember from where.
