Denon Receivers Get Windows 7 Compliance

Like streaming media from your PC to your TV? The new Windows 7 compatibility announced by Denon means you’ll have an even easier time of it, assuming you’re using Windows 7 and a Denon receiver of course.
“In achieving this certification,” says Microsoft’s Mark Relph, “Denon demonstrates to consumers that their receivers are compatible with Windows 7 for a seamless and reliable experience.”
Testing for Windows 7 isn’t just about compatibility. Compatibility is essential, of course, but so is reliability. If customers aren’t able to have that experience without too much hassle, they won’t want it.
“Windows 7 compatibility will let users dramatically expand their home entertainment universe and explore all kinds of exciting new options,” says Denon’s Jeff Talmadge. “With Windows 7's 'Play To' feature for example, users will be able to stream music, video, and photos to any compatible device on their network quickly and easily.”
The receiver models that achieved the honor are the AVR-4310CI, AVR-3310CI, AVR-990, and the new 9.3 channel AVR-4810CI. Denon’s ASD-51W and ASD-51N iPod docks have also passed compatibility testing.

Windows 7 Adds Dolby Digital Plus Support

Dolby announced recently that Microsoft will add support for Dolby Digital Plus to its Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate editions of Windows 7.
“A solid media experience is a critical part of [the] computing experience” stated Mike Nash, VP of Windows Product Management at Microsoft in a recent press release. “We are delighted to be working with Dolby Laboratories, the leaders in high-quality audio and surround sound, to provide Dolby Digital Plus to our mutual customers.”
Supporting Dolby Digital Plus is a strong step forward for Windows 7, and certainly not the last announcement that will be coming out of Microsoft, who seem to be interested in becoming a part of your home theater now more than ever.
