Tags: PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation Network, PlayStation Plus, Videogame Awards (all tags)

Winners in each category will be available for 30% off for the week after the awards are announced.

If you want to throw in your vote for the best games of the year, jump on to PSN today and make your picks. There are ten categories this year and voting in each one will earn you a background for your XMB.

Categories include the expected like Best PSN Game and Best PSN Exclusive as well as some categories you won't necessarily expect like Best 3D Game and Best PlayStation Classic.

No matter whether the games you chose win or not, you'll be in for a potentially very cool sale. Each category winner will be discounted by 30%, which increases to 50% for PlayStation Plus members. The unintentional consequence of which may be that people vote for games they don't own and haven't played in hopes of getting the discount.

Game Developers Choice Awards Nominees Announced

A few obvious titles are nominated, like 'Skyrim' and 'Portal 2,' but there are a few smaller games in the running, like 'Bastion' and 'Dark Souls.''

There are only a few videogame award shows worth watching, and the Game Developer's Choice Awards is one of them. Awards are voted on by the industry and given out at the Game Developers Conference, coming in early March. There aren't bikini-clad women or presenters that don't make sense or awards for "Best Game Fueled By Dew." It's not the Spike VGAs is the point.

This year's award nominations include most of the games you'd expect to see. 'Arkham City,' 'Skyrim,' 'Portal 2,' and 'L.A. Noire' appear in more than a few categories. Surprise hit 'Bastion' is all over the list as well, picking up nominations for Innovation, Audio, Best Downloadable Game and Best Debut.

There's another dark horse on the list and that's 'Dark Souls,' the follow up to 'Demon's Souls' from From Software. It's not only nominated for Best Game Design, but Game of the Year as well. That could certainly be a big upset considering the mainstream titles its up against.
