Evo Announces Fighting Game Lineup for 2012 Tournament Season
Thu Jan 05, 2012 at 09:30 AM ETTags: eSports, Street Fighter, Street Fighter X Tekken, Marvel vs Capcom 3, Soul Calibur V (all tags)
The increased popularity of competitive fighting games has allowed Evo to add new games and new events.
2011 was a great year for eSports. Audiences grew, prize money increased, players got better and games got even better for fans to watch. Fighting games increased in popularity across the board and that's been very good for the Evolution Championship Series, more commonly known as Evo.
Evo has made some significant changes for its 2012 season. Rules have changed, seeding is done differently and more events have been added. The big news though, is that they've amended their lineup to include six very strong fighting games.
Players and fans can expect to see plenty of action from 'Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition,' 'Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3,' 'Mortal Kombat 9,' and 'King of Fighters 13' as well as the upcoming titles 'Soul Calibur V' and 'Street Fighter X Tekken.'
The Apex Tournament Series kicks off the new season with new games in New Burnswick, New Jersey.

Mat Catz Announces the 'Soul Calibur V' Soul Edition Joystick
Tue Oct 25, 2011 at 11:30 AM ETTags: Soul Calibur, Soul Calibur V, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 (all tags)
There's no time announced yet, but we can't wait to get our hands on this thing.
Playing fighting games with a traditional joystick is, well, it's just plain wrong. Even a cheap arcade stick can make a world of difference in the way you experience the game and your ability to execute moves with speed and precision. Playing with a good arcade stick takes things up another notch.
Accessory company Mad Catz - remember when that logo on a product used to mean that it was crappy? - has had a good history with arcade sticks in recent years and the release of another one for 'Soul Calibur V' is damn exciting. Not only is it specially laid out for 'Soul Calibur,' the company says they have improved things from the highly regarded 'Street Fighter IV' sticks.
Mad Catz is pretty mum about most of the improvements. The look of the controller has changed of course, but a translucent case isn't exactly what we're concerned about when it comes to performance. The one change that Mad Catz has confirmed is a change to stainless steel screws to prevent rust from gathering on your joystick.
