"PlayStation Network" Becomes "Sony Entertainment Network" on Wednesday

The name change is happening across the spectrum, with the exception of the PSP.

Tuesday the 7th is the last time you'll be logging onto PSN unless you own a PlayStation Portable. On Sony's other devices, the PlayStation Network name is being replaced with Sony Entertainment Network.

The name change is purely cosmetic and comes because Sony wants to keep its brand identity together across all devices - a feat that's difficult to pull off. They want Bravia users, PS3 users and Sony Blu-ray player users to have access to the same one-stop-shop service.

"Changing the name 'PlayStation Network account' to 'Sony Entertainment Network account' helps clarify the unity between PSN and other Sony Entertainment Network services," says a Sony spokesperson.
