SlingPlayer for Kindle Fire Available Now
Wed Feb 01, 2012 at 02:00 PM ETTags: SlingPlayer, Streaming (all tags)
$30 will get you Slingbox functionality on your Kindle tablet.
The Kindle Fire is a slick tablet for those not looking to spend a bundle, but it lacks in a bit of functionality that bigger, more expensive tablets have. Mainly, it lacks access to the Android Market, which puts it behind a bit when it comes to apps.
SlingPlayer has been on the Android marketplace for a while now and it's just been added to the Kindle Fire. For the same $29 as on other platforms, you'll have the ability to watch shows from the comfort of your office, your hotel, your Wi-Fi enabled plane or wherever your travels may take you.
You can pick it up now on Amazon.

SlingPlayer Launches for Google TV

Remote TV viewing is now available for both Sony and Logitech Google TV products.
Google TV had a rough start, but there's starting to be some real movement thanks to an operating system update and a few new apps. The latest to be introduced to Google TV is the SlingPlayer.
They're calling it the SlingPlayer for Logitech Revue - it works on the other platforms so we're not sure why - and it allows you to do the things that you'd expect from a Sling app. You can watch the shows playing or recorded at home from anywhere you have an internet connection.
The SlingPlayer is available as a free download on Google TV now.

The application is free, and allows you to play live and recorded content from your SlingBox.
Boxee is updating fast and furiously - at least when it comes to the Boxee Box. They announced the Live TV dongle for over-the-air signals recently and today they've added a new feature - SlingPlayer.
"For those who aren’t ready to cut the cord," writes Nick on the Boxee Blog. "we still want to help you shave your cable bill by never having to pay for the same content over and over." Thus, the introduction of the SlingPlayer app.
SlingPlayer allows you to play any content from your SlingBox on your Boxee Box no matter where you are in the world as long as you have an internet connection. You can access your DVR, cable box or DVD player from anywhere in the world and you'll get content streaming in 1080i.
