PS3 Users Get a Free Copy of 'Saint's Row 2' with 'Saint's Row: The Third'

The PS3 isn't getting any exclusive content, but for 90 days, players will be getting 'Saint's Row 2' absolutely free.

If you think back to E3 2011 you'll remember some big announcements from Sony about exclusive content coming to the PlayStation 3. Among the games included in the "PS3 owners get something special" list was 'Saint's Row: The Third.'

Despite giving the impression that the new content would be for the current game, the extras come in the form of a free digital copy of 'Saint's Row 2,' which currently runs $19.99 on PSN. All you need to do is redeem your online pass code and you'll be set to go.

Sony and THQ are giving you until February 13th to pick up the new game and get a free copy of the old one.

'Saints Row: The Third' Trailer Hits the Web

The 'Saint's Row' trailer came out just after the 'GTA V' trailer was revealed. How's that for timing?

The 'Grand Theft Auto' series has always had a bit of humor, though it's been scaled back far since the early games. Those that find the worlds that Rockstar makes to be a little too grim for their liking have an option though - 'Saint's Row.'

The trailer for 'Saint's Row: The Third' definitely takes a different tact than the 'GTA' trailers. It shows off a bit of storyline and traditional action, sure. But it also gives you a look at a space setting, superheroes, gimps and Burt f*cking Reynolds.

THQ also reveals some new weapons in the trailer. You'll have guns and rocket launchers and the like, but also a jar full of farts, a seemingly invincible ATV and - we're not making this up - dildo bats. Yup. Dildo bats.

Create Your 'Saints Row: The Third' Character Now, Download at Launch

The character creator will be available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC through Steam November 1st.

Psyched for the new 'Saints Row' game? We are too. Folks tend to overlook the title in favor of 'Grand Theft Auto,' but if you're one of those people who would rather cause mindless mayhem than follow a serious storyline, you should be playing 'Saints Row.'

The game rolls out on November 15th for PS3, 360 and PC but you can get an early start on creating a character with the 'Saint's Row' Initiation Station. It allows you to make your own characters, see what others have done and, when the game comes out, download any of the characters uploaded to the 'Saint's Row' website so you can play them in your game.

If you preordered 'Saints Row: The Third,' you can download the Initiation Station now. If not, you'll have to wait until November 1st. That still gives you two weeks to get your avatar ready to start wrecking all sorts of wonderful havoc.
