Runco Announces its Most Affordable 3D Projector Yet
Tue Jan 31, 2012 at 10:00 AM ETTags: Runco, Projectors, 3D Projectors (all tags)
Of course, what Runco considers affordable and what the rest of us consider affordable can be two very different things.
The folks at Runco don't make cheap projectors. Their high-end products aren't the kind of thing that most people can afford, and even those that can have to think a bit about before they dive in. Recently though, Runco has been reaching towards lower price points and the LS-12d is the result. The $27,995 LS-12d.
The LS-12d offers 3D capabilities and a 1080p picture. You can choose to go with active or passive 3D since the projector handles both, but the three pairs of active glasses make the choice fairly easy. The LS-12d also comes with the DC-300 video processor, scaler and controller, packed full of calibration tools. If you pick up the DC-300 on its own it's 9,995.
"With the release of the LS-12d and DC-300, Runco delivers exceptional 2D and 3D at an affordable price for dedicated or flex-theaters," says marketing VP Jennifer Davis. "The wide range of throw ratios, combined with Runco's CineGlide anamorphic lens options and customizable FinishPalette options make it a truly exciting 3D offering perfect for virtually any environment."

Runco Launches the Affordable LS-1 Projector
Thu Aug 11, 2011 at 02:00 PM ETTags: Runco, Projectors (all tags)
At $3,995 the LS-1 brings Runco into a brand new price bracket.
Those familiar with Runco know them as a company that makes incredibly high-end projectors. They tend to sell for tens of thousands of dollars - much more than most folks would ever dream about spending on a projector.
The LS-1 is different though. It runs just $3,995 which makes it the cheapest offering from Runco yet. It's an interesting direction for Runco, who is trying to reach out to folks that never had the scratch to pick up a Runco projector in the past.
Runco's LS-1 offers a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and deep black levels thanks to technologies like SuperOnyx, ConstantContrast and ViVix. It also gives you the ability to pop an anamorphic lens in place with the touch of a button.

CEA Announces New Inductees to the Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame
Fri May 27, 2011 at 04:00 PM ETTags: Ralph Baer, Runco, Industry Awards (all tags)
Among those honored are Robert Metcalf, Sam Runco and Ralph Baer.
The 2011 class of CE Hall of Fame inductees is a strong one. It brings a few less expected names as well as some people who - if you didn't know any better - you might assume were already members.
Ralph Baer is one of those inductees. He might not be a household name to everyone, but Baer is the man that's generally credited as the inventor of videogames. He also created the first light gun for home use and the game Simon.
Sam Runco is another name that's probably familiar to most home theater enthusiasts. He's the man behind - if the name wasn't a giveaway- Runco International, best known for their high-end projectors.
Ivan Berger and Lance Braithwaite, who worked together in CE journalism were also inducted.

Runco Announces Customizable Vistage Plasmas
Wed Sep 29, 2010 at 10:00 AM ETTags: Runco, HDTVs (all tags)
They're almost certainly great looking TVs, but the option of a custom back panel leaves us scratching our heads.
Runco's not a name that's commonly associated with TVs. You think Runco and you think luxury projectors – unless you're confusing Runco with Ronco, in which case you think of rotisseries and flavor injectors being hocked on TV.
Runco's new plasmas boast solid glass fronts, which give them a fantastic aesthetic and an Emissive Cell Structure that creates a brighter picture with a wider viewing angle. They're 3D ready, they offer impressive black levels and they're nice and slim, at 1.7 inches.
The Vistage line is classy looking, even luxurious. That's why it's hard to figure out the customizable rear panel, which is anything but. Want a woodgrain panel attached to the back of your TV? How about a college sports team logo? You can do it. We just wouldn't recommend it.

Runco Adds a Pair of Climate Portfolio Outdoor TVs
Mon Jun 07, 2010 at 12:00 PM ETTags: Outdoor TVs, Runco (all tags)
They've got optional custom finishes, a completely weatherproof case, and a hefty price tag.
Remember sitting in front of the TV in the summer and being prompted by your parents to go outside and enjoy the weather? Well Runco's got a solution that works as a nice compromise – outdoor televisions.
The CP-42HD and CP-52HD, 42 and 52 inch sets respectively, are 1080p sets sporting "reflection-rejection" glass that allows you to mount them outdoors without having to worry about that whole sunlight thing.
They've got a pair of HDMI inputs, and a few other video inputs too, in case you want to hook up a game system or PC. They've also got an internal thermostat that activates a cooling system when the case gets too hot.
But they're not anywhere close to cheap. The CP-42HD runs $6,495, while the CP-52HD runs $13,995.
