Rhino has announced a street date and specs for 'Blue Man Group: How to Be a Megastar Live!', which will hit Blu-ray this May with several bonus features.
Rhino had previously confirmed plans to release 'Megastar" on Blu-ray sometime this Spring, but stopped short of detailing specs or a street date.
Marking the indie's first Blu-ray music release, 'How to Be a Megastar Live!' will hit stores on May 13 (a DVD/CD version was released by Rhino this past March).
Sharing the same extras as the DVD release, the Blu-ray will include the complete 22-track extravaganza, plus the documentary "Inside the Tube" and a pair of music videos ("I Feel Love," "Mono").
Tech specs feature 1080 video (1.78:1), and audio in both Dolby Digital and PCM (Rhino has not yet specified audio configurations, but we'll keep you posted).
Suggested retail for the Blu-ray has been set at $19.99.
You'll find the latest specs for 'Blue Man Group: How to Be a Megastar Live!' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under May 13.

Thu Mar 13, 2008 at 09:00 AM ETTags: Disc Announcements, Rhino (all tags)
There's no release date yet, but Rhino has announced plans to bring the Blue Man Group's concert film 'How to Be a Megastar Live!' to Blu-ray disc.
In a just-issued press release touting the upcoming DVD/CD release of 'Megastar,' Rhino says the 22-track live extravaganza will also be hitting Blu-ray sometime soon, though they stopped short of providing an actual street date.
There were no tech specs or supplement details available for the Blu-ray at press time. However, as the DVD/CD release contains several bonus features, our hopes remain high for the high-def version.
We'll keep you posted as soon as more information comes to us from Rhino.
In the meantime, you'll find a preliminary listing for 'Blue Man Group: How to Be a Megastar Live!' in the "Release Dates Pending" section of our Blu-ray Release Schedule.

Rhino Announces First HD DVD Titles
Fri Sep 15, 2006 at 01:50 AM ETTags: Disc Announcements, Music, Rhino (all tags)
Everyone's favorite distributor of "the weird and the wonderful"
on DVD, Rhino Home Entertainment has become the latest indie to jump aboard
the HD DVD bandwagon, announcing three new music titles for release this Fall.
Due in stores on November 17 are recent concert films by three top music acts: 'The Eagles: Farewell Tour 1 - Live In Melbourne,' 'Cream: Royal Albert Hall - London May 2-3-5-6 2005' and 'James Taylor: A MusiCares Person of the Year Tribute.'
No specs, supplement details and pricing information is yet available for the releases, but are expected in the coming days.
Rhino, a subsidiary of Warner Bros., also controls an ever-growing library of eclectic music, TV and special interest programming, so we can only hope its first three HD DVD titles are just the beginning. We also certainly welcome the release of less "mainstream" fare in high def, which can only help broaden consumer appeal for the next-gen formats even further.
We've added new listings for all three of Rhino's initial disc offerings to
our HD DVD Release
Schedule, and stay tuned for full details as soon as they are announced.
