They're bringing you your favorite shows in high-def along with plenty of other content to boot.

The most frustrating part of watching a show On Demand isn't the poor response time of the controls but the quality of the picture. Since most shows are only available in standard definition, watching On Demand content can be painful.

Time Warner is remedying that a bit by launching Primetime HD On Demand which will give you access to HD content from NBC, ABC and CBS. That means there's no need to worry about watching that episode of '30 Rock' or 'Modern Family' in standard definition.

In addition, Time Warner is adding On Demand selections from ESPN, ABC Family, SOAPnet and Disney XD.

All of this content is available now and is available free to digital cable subscribers.

Time Warner Providing Immediate On Demand for New Shows

Don't have a DVR? Don't worry. Time Warner's new service lets you access your shows on demand for up to three days immediately after they air.

You've almost certainly had an experience in the past where you've forgotten to set your DVR. Maybe your power went out, or the show you wanted to see got pushed back due to a scheduling conflict. In the past, you've had to wait until a rerun came on or – more likely – catch up on Hulu.

Time Warner's new Look Back service aims to solve that problem and give people some of the convenience provided by internet streaming alternatives. Immediately after a show airs, you'll be able to access Look Back and watch it on demand.

There are limitations of course, and only 48 channels (24 in SD, 24 in HD) are being offered right off the bat and the Look Back service isn't hitting all of Time Warner's subscribers yet. You also don't get the ability to fast forward.

Because it’s not a bandwagon unless everyone’s on it.

In an announcement earlier today, Blockbuster stated that they’ve reached an agreement that will allow the Blockbuster On Demand service to be available on upcoming Samsung televisions. This fall, all new and some existing Samsung televisions and Blu-ray players will have access to Blockbuster’s online library.

This is a big step for Blockbuster who are desperately trying to keep their footing. With Netflix currently dominating streaming video and Redbox eating into their store rentals, Blockbuster is looking for a way to reestablish itself. “Every time there’s a screen where you want to watch a movie, our job is to be there,” said Kevin Lewis, Blockbuster’s Senior VP of Digital entertainment.
