Nintendo Will Reveal New Mario and Pikmin Titles at E3
Tue Apr 17, 2012 at 12:46 PM ETTags: Mario, Nintendo, E3 2012, Wii U (all tags)
The combo of the two titles would mean a very nice launch lineup for the Wii U.
E3 is coming and companies are starting to tease some of what they'll be offering. We already know Nintendo's going to give us plenty of Wii U, but it's also been revealed that we'll be seeing a new Mario game and a new Pikmin game at the event.
While the Mario title will certainly be the bigger seller, a new Pikmin game is something that fans have been waiting on for quite a while. It's also something that creator Shigeru Miyamoto has been wanting to make for some time.

Miyamoto Steps Down to Work on Smaller Projects

He's still with Nintendo, but he's no longer heading the design team.
If you're at all serious about games then Shigeru Miyamoto is almost certainly a name you're familiar with. He's the man behind 'Donkey Kong,' 'Super Mario Bros' and 'The Legend of Zelda.' He's one of the big reasons that Nintendo is where it is today.
The legendary game designer announced this week that he's going to be stepping down from his role at Nintendo in order to focus on smaller titles. He's staying with the company, but Miyamoto has goals beyond simply taking part on development of major games.
It was solo or small team creation, limited funds and limited hardware that spurred Miyamoto to be great in the first place and he's looking to capture that. He says that he'll be "working on a smaller project with even younger developers. Or I might be interested in making something that I can make myself, by myself. Something really small."
