Marantz Introduces Two New Receivers to Replace Last Year's Flagship
Fri Jul 01, 2011 at 01:15 PM ETTags: Marantz, Receivers, AirPlay (all tags)
Both offer AirPlay functionality, internet radio streaming and more.
The two newest receivers from Marantz - the SR5006 and the SR6006 - are designed as replacements to last year's flagship SR7005. They both boast the definitive Marantz design and Ethernet connectivity that allows you to stream music from online radio stations. They also include AirPlay functionality right out of the box, so hooking up to your iPhone, iPod or iPad is simple.
The 6006 is at the top of the line and it offers quite a bit. You'll get 7.1 channels at 110 watts per channel. It offers Audyssey Dynamic Volume to keep the sound from spiking and the Marantz Dynamic Expander to take those MP3 files from you iPod and make them sound like uncompressed audio files. As you might expect, it also upscales content from SD to 1080p.
Marantz put plenty into the 5006 as well, though it loses 10 watts per channel and features only six HDMI inputs, instead of the seven inputs on the 6006.
Both receivers will be available in mid-July. The 6006 carries an MSRP of $1,199 while the 5006 comes in at $799

Marantz Intros Two Universal Media 3D Blu-ray Players
Thu Jul 22, 2010 at 12:00 PM ETTags: Blu-ray Players, Marantz (all tags)
They'll play just about any silver disc on the market, stream from Netflix, and plenty more.
Marantz introed two new players recently, along with a glut of other CE devices. Both the new UD5005 and UD7005 are compatible with 3D Blu-ray discs, CDs, DVDs and Super Audio CDs. They'll play DivX, MP3, and JPEG files too, either from discs or SD cards.
Both players feature dedicated audio sections, but the UD7005 pulls ahead significantly here. It's got a 32-bit Audio DAC with analog multichannel output including 7.1 compatibility.
Both were created with the custom-installer market in mind and sport plenty of options designed to make installation easier. They've got IR inputs and outputs and the 7005 adds RS232 support.
Like all Marantz components, these players look fantastic. Sure, it's all about the video and audio quality, but there's something to be said for having a nice looking system.

Marantz Announces the New SR7005 Flagship Receiver
Fri Jul 09, 2010 at 10:00 AM ETTags: Marantz, Receivers (all tags)
The newest from Marantz features a classic look, streaming capabilities, and plenty of power.
For a receiver to truly work, it needs a good mixture of brains and brawn, which is what Marantz is aiming for with the new SR7005.
A 400Mhz, 32-bit Sharc DSP from Analog Devices provides the brainpower – taking on audio decoding, and the variety of Audyssey technologies built in. You can correct for room acoustics with MultiEQ XT PRO, keep sound at the right level at low volumes with Dynamic EQ and get rid of those loudness spikes with Dynamic Volume.
The muscle of the 7005 is a current feedback amplifier circuit that uses Marantz HDAMs and an oversized low impedance transformer. The system was originally designed for SACD playback, and according to Marantz, it's ideal for DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby True-HD.
There's plenty more to the receiver, like Anchor Bay upconversion, a built-in digital media player that can pull audio from your PC or NAS drive, and a phono pre-amp made just for vinyl.
You'll be able to pick up the Marantz SR7005 this August at a price of $1,599.

Marantz Launches a Roku HD Incentive Program

Looking for a high end player but worried about streaming options? Worry no more.
The problem with more expensive high-end Blu-ray players is that they tend not to have all the features of the low end units. It seems strange, but it’s true. High-end electronics tend to serve a single purpose, and the focus is on doing that thing really well.
That’s true of Marantz players for sure. The flagship UD9004 offers amazing video and audio processing capabilities. It’s built from top to bottom to deliver flawless quality during Blu-ray and DVD playback, but that’s all it does. $6,000 and no Netflix, no Amazon on Demand, and no YouTube.
Of course, the folks at Marantz recognize the streaming market. It’s impossible to ignore. That’s why they’re offering a free Roku HD video player with the purchase of a Marantz BD player.
The deal isn’t exclusive to the ultra high end players either. If you pick up a BD7004 or BD5004, you can still participate in the Roku program.

The flagship player from Marantz represents, according to the press release, the pinnacle of home entertainment audio and video reproduction. At $6000, it sure better!
Marantz says this player will play virtually any 12mm audio or video disc ever created. A pair of Sharc DSPs are onboard decode HD audio, and the 32-bit floating point Analog Devices DSP gives the purest sound possible. When using the player for audio, video output can even be shut down to ensure that the unit is focused on sound and sound alone.
Dual HDMI outputs allow for audio and video to be sent separately. Video is sent out with 36-bit Deep Color and a 10-bit Silicon Optix Realta chipset. Those recreating the cinema experience in the home will note the addition of a digital Vertical Stretch feature, which eliminates black bars without adding distortion or artifacts. An Ethernet port is available for BD-Live features, but at $6,000, is the inclusion Wi-Fi really too much to ask?

Marantz is launching its new line of Blu-ray players, the BD 5004 and the BD 7004, this August. An established brand in high end electronics, the folks at Marantz are sticking with what they know best, high quality for a high end consumer.
The BD 5004 features DivX playback, BD-Live support, AVCHD, Dolby True HD and DTS-HD bitstreaming, and the 7004 adds 7.1 analog outs, DTS-HD MA decoding, as well as an Anchor Bay Reference Series processor.
Missing are some of the newer features that are becoming standard in Blu-ray players such as access to streaming video, but Marantz seems to be betting against that need. With so many new TVs taking care of that role, a high quality standalone Blu-ray player may be just what the market ordered.

CES: Marantz BD8002 Blu-ray Player Due This Spring
Tue Jan 08, 2008 at 09:00 AM ETTags: CES 2008, Marantz (all tags)
This isn't the first time we've seen this "ultimate-quality" Blu-ray player from Marantz, but the pricey deck has a new release date.
First unveiled at CEDIA last summer, Marantz says its $2,099.99 player (yes, you read that right) is now due to hit stores in the second quarter of this year.
So what do you get in a $2,100 Blu-ray player? According to a company press release, the Profile 1.1 player features full 1080p output and decoding for all current high-resolution audio formats, including Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD Lossless Master Audio and uncompressed PCM, outputting both 7.1-channel analog signals and PCM audio via HDMI.
An apparent re-badge of Denon's DVD-3800BDCI Blu-ray Player, the deck is also slated to include the Realta HQV video processor, which allows for advanced video clean-up of even the best high-def signals
