HP Launches a New 3D Envy Laptop
Mon Nov 21, 2011 at 10:00 AM ETTags: Laptops, HP (all tags)
HP promises improved viewing angles and a much cooler laptop.
The HP Envy line is well named. They're very slick laptops and the newest additions to the line are even slicker. They give you Intel Core i7 processing power and AMD Mobility Radeon graphics processing. You'll get a minimum of 6GB of RAM - upgradeable to 16GB - and at least a 750GB hard drive.
The Envy 15, the Envy 17 and the Envy 17 3D all pack Blu-ray players and boast pristine HD pictures but only the latter takes it into the third dimension. You'll use included active shutter 3D glasses to enjoy your 3D viewing experience.
As far as audio goes, you can use headphones or send sound through the six speakers and single subwoofer featuring Beats Audio technology.
The Envy line will be available on December 7th, with the Envy 17 3D coming in at $1,599.

LG's New A530 3D Notebook Features a 3D Webcam
Mon Aug 29, 2011 at 02:00 PM ETTags: LG, Laptops, 3D (all tags)
The laptop offers a passive 3D screen and a 3D webcam to go along with it, for all your 3D loving friends.
LG's latest laptop is a pretty slick setup. It offers a built in solid state drive for cool, quiet and quick running. It boasts a GeForce GT 555M graphics card, a Core i7 processor, 8 gigs of RAM and USB 3.0 capability.
The most interesting feature of the A530 though is the 3D webcam that allows you to make your own 3D movies and video chat with your friends in full 3D. The laptop also has a 3D screen of its own and uses passive technology for the best possible picture.
The A530 hasn't been priced yet, nor is there a North American release date. It's hitting Europe, the Middle East and Africa this month, with other markets coming shortly.

Toshiba Announces a Glasses-Free 3D Laptop

And it's not ridiculously expensive either - just $1,700.
There's an expectation that whenever a new technology hits the market, the price of that tech is going to be ridiculously high. It happened with HD TVs, Blu-ray players, and pretty much everything else that's come to the home theater market.
Glasses-free 3D seems to be a bit different - at least when it comes to smaller displays. The 3DS runs just $170 at this point and Toshiba's new laptop is similarly inexpensive. The new Qosimo F755 comes in at just $1,699 - that's $200 cheaper than their current 3D Qosimo laptop.
The new laptop offers you the ability to view both 2D and 3D content on the same screen - we're a little confused about what that means too - and can convert 2D content to 3D. It sports a Blu-ray player, a Core i7 processor, GeForce 540M graphics and a 750GB hard drive. The F755 will be available in mid-August.
