iOGEAR's Wireless HDMI Streamer Does 3D and 1080p up to 100 Feet

It only does 5.1 channel audio unlike HP's version, but it gives you four times the distance. Of course, it's also $200 more.

Is wireless streaming season a thing? If it is then we're right smack dab in the middle of it. Both HP and iOGEAR have released new PC to TV streamers with differing capabilities.

The iOGEAR GW3DKIT is 3D capable and can send 1080p video to your TV with a simple sender/receiver arrangement. It can only do 5.1 channel audio, unlike HP's Wireless TV Connect which can handle 7.1.

The advantage of the GW3DKIT is that thanks to the use of the 5GHz wireless spectrum you'll be able to get 100 feet out of it instead of the 25-30 that HP promises. It's priced at $379 which is $200 higher than its competitor, but a room or two worth of range might be worth it to the right person.

IOGear Launches Two New HTPC Controllers

Two new options are available for HTPC users, including a handheld model and a full sized keyboard.

If you're using an HTPC, things are looking good. You get to scoff at the news of blocked content and chortle at the news of Apple TV preorders and now you even get some cool new gear.

The GKM571R from IOGear is small enough to fit in your hand and features a full QWERTY keyboard as well as a tiny out of the way trackball in the upper right corner. It's also got a closing lid, though it's not exactly clear why.

IOGear's GKM581 is a bit more traditional. It's a full sized keyboard with a trackball on the right and the mouse buttons on the left. It's a bit bigger, but it seems much simpler to browse with.

You'll find the GKM571R at a price of $89 while the larger GKM581 runs $99. Both are slated to ship before the end of the year.

IOGEAR Wireless Kit Streams HD up to 100 Feet

But it's still not what you'd call cheap.

A world without wires – that's the dream. A world where there's no spaghetti, there's no messing around behind the set, and there's no one selling overpriced cables. But we're still a long way off.

The latest wireless kit from IOGEAR is definitely slick. It's capable of sending a 1080p 60Hz signal up to 100 feet away. Judging by the inputs and outputs on the kit, you'll be able to send lesser signals as well, through composite and VGA.

The Wireless HD Kit sends the wireless signal using the 802.11n WiFi standard, and it can be picked up by as many as four wireless receivers. And if you need to run further than 100 feet, it's compatible with extenders that send HDMI over CAT5 and CAT6 cables.

But it's not cheap, or affordable for most folks. IOGEAR's Wireless HD Kit comes in at $899.95
