The modular amps can be upgraded for phono playback thanks to an extra slot in the system.

The C 375DAC and C 356DAC from NAD pack the same kinds of components and features that you'd expect from the company's integrated amps. But they also bring something new to the table - 24/96 DACs for all of your USB connected devices that promise to get richer sound out of your compressed audio files.

The C 375DAC and C 356DAC come equipped with 24/192 dacs for the rest of your audio and utilize OPAmps to provide optimal power. You'll find an RS-232 interface and 12-volt trigger, allowing for custom setups and a modular design so you can upgrade as you see fit.

NADs integrated amplifiers run $900 for the 356DAC and $1,600 for the 375DAC.

Antelope Audio Releases a $4,000 Digital Audio Converter for iPad

Once you’re spending four grand to make the thing sound good, maybe it’s time to consider using another device for your audio.

Some people have too much money. Have you noticed? Of course, high end consumer electronics companies aren’t complaining – that’s where their sales come from.

The Antelope Audio Zodiac Gold is a definite exercise in excess. It’s a digital audio converter for your iPad that aims to improve the sound that the tablet puts out. It’s one of the very few 384kHz DACs on the market and one of the fewer converters aimed at the iPad.

It’s a slick looking device, but the thing that draws the most attention is the price. If you want to get the best audio possible out of your iPad, you’ll be spending 3000 euros, or around $3,900.

Simaudio Launches High-End Phono Amp, DAC and Streamer

The components are all packed with impressive specs and are drop dead gorgeous.

Some of us are home theater system type people and others of us step it up to separate components. Still others take things to the highest level and shell out thousands of dollars for very specific products like those offered by Simaudio.

The company's new Moon 810LP phono preamplifier, for example, does just what it sounds like. It's a preamp that's made just for use with a record player. It has a dedicated circuit board on a gel-based floating suspension, specific voltage regulation, adjustable impedance, capacitance and gain with plenty more to add. It's out next month at $12,000.

The Moon 380D digital to analog converter is built around M-AJiC32 circuitry that allows it to perform in 32-bit fully asynchronous mode. It's practically jitter free and features eight different digital inputs including USB, optical, S/PDIF on BNC, S/PDIF on RCA and AES/EBU on XLR. It's out in April at a price of $3,900 for the base version.

Finally, Simaudio has announced the Moon 180 MiND music streamer. It handles the usual sources for streaming music - your computer, internet radio, subscription based services, UPnP devices and a computer or NAS device. It supports a wide range of file formats and gives you the power to select, name and group zones. The Moon 180 will be available for $1,250 this April.

It provides improved sound for computers and portable audio devices alike.

"A friend asked me to develop a DAC that everyone could afford yet would substantially improve the sound of any conventional audio product," Says HiFiMAN president Fang Bian. "The result was the HM-101 which has exceeded even our high expectations."

The HM-101 measures in at 2-1/2 inches long, 1-1/2 wide and 1/2 inch thick. It offers a USB connection for computers as well as a standard headphone jack so you can plug in your iPhone, CD player or whatever else could use an audio boost.

HiFiMAN's new DAC has a signal to noise ratio of 98 dB and total harmonic distortion of 0.07 percent. It has a nice wide frequency response too, from 20Hz to 20kHz.

NuForce Announces a New USB DAC/Headphone Amp

It's designed to help you get the most out of the sound files stored on your computer.

If you use a computer as your main source of music, it's likely that you're trying to deal in FLAC files as much as you can, or at least high bitrate MP3s. Most folks with a PC dedicated to audio have a nice pair of speakers set up with a sub to go along with it. Strangely, they still use the audio card that's built right into their hard drives.

The Icon uDAC-2SE USB is a digital audio converter and headphone amp in one that's designed specifically to interface with your computer. It bypass the on board audio card and converts your digital music, cleans up the jitter and even upsamples your tunes.

You can pick up the NuForce Icon uDAC-2SE USB now in red or black for $249.
