A class action lawsuit that was filed against Samsung was settled this week, resulting in positive results for current and former Samsung TV owners. If your set experienced issues due to a faulty capacitor, you’re in for some compensation.

Samsung is repairing these sets for free, and has been for some time. As part of the settlement, the company has also agreed to reimburse repairs that customers had made on their own dime. And if you don’t still own your broken Samsung TV but you can prove you owned it, they’ll send you $300. Nice and easy.

If you think your TV may have been affected, check out the settlement website for information on what to do next.

Class Action Lawsuit Against Walmart and Netflix Could Get You a Gift Card

Netflix is fighting the charges, but Walmart is settling and offering gift cards to those they've (allegedly) wronged.

Remember back six or seven years ago when Walmart was in the DVD-by -mail business? According to a class action suit filed against the company, they dropped DVD-by-mail in an agreement with Netflix. Netflix, the suit alleges, agreed for its part to stop selling new release DVDs. If true, this arrangement is what made Netflix the sole provider of DVDs through the mail.

Netflix says that the case has no merit, and is going to be fighting it in court. Walmart, whether out of a desire to avoid a legal battle or fear that they'd lose, has agreed to a settlement.

If you subscribed to the Netflix DVD rental service any time between May 19, 2005 and Sept 2, 2011 you're eligible to be included in the settlement. Go on over to the case website and fill out a claim form for either a Walmart gift card or print out and send one to get cash.

Class Action Lawsuit Filed Over Missing 'Battlefield 1943' Copies With 'Battlefield 3'

EA failed to deliver on a promise they made and didn't properly tell anyone beforehand. This has not made people happy.

Gamers tend to be an easily angered bunch. Changing a character's look or trying something new can cause a developer's forums to explode. When every little thing provokes a giant reaction, it makes things a little hard to gage.

There was plenty of that anger leveled at EA recently when they failed to include a copy of 'Battlefield 1943' with every PS3 copy of 'Battlefield 3,' something they promised back in June. Worse, EA failed to announce that this change had occurred, leaving fans to assume that everything was on track.

Angry fans, of course, took to forums and social networking sites, but some took it farther than that and filed a class action lawsuit over the missing content. The suit isn't seeking money like most class action suits - it's just trying to get those 'Battlefield 1943' copies that were supposed to be there in the first place.
