Fox has officially announced 'Point Break' for Bu-ray, which will hit high-def this July in a "Pure Adrenalin Edition" with extensive bonus features.
As we've previously reported, Fox alerted retailers to a July 1 Blu-ray bow for the Keanu Reeves-Patrick Swayze action hit, though the studio provided only preliminary specs.
The full media release has now been issued, and the Blu-ray will share all the same extras as the previous 2006 DVD special edition, including four making-of featurettes ( "It's Make Or Break," "Ride The Wave," "Adrenaline Junkies," "On Location: Malibu"), 8 deleted scenes, a still gallery, and 3 theatrical trailers.
Tech specs for the BD-50 dual-layer presentation enjoy 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video, a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track (48kHz/16-bit), and additional Dolby Digital and subtitle offerings in English, French, and Spanish.
Finally, Fox has unveiled the Blu-ray box art for 'Point Break,' which offers a new take on the film's original theatrical key art:

The original Batman's high-def debut isn't until July, but we've got an early peek at the Blu-ray box art for the 1966 camp classic.
As previously reported, Fox Home Entertainment has set a July 1 street date for 'Batman: The Movie,' day-and-date with a new standard DVD re-issue.
Tech specs include remastered 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video, with DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround (English and French Dolby Digital 1.0 Mono dubs are also included, along with English, French and Spanish subtitle options). In addition, the Blu-ray will include the film's complete isolated score, also available in DTS-MA 5.1 Surround.
Supplements on the BD-50 dual-layer release are extensive, boasting two audio commentaries (with actors Adam West and Burt Ward, and a second track with screenwriter Lorenzo Semple, Jr.), a 2001 "35th Anniversary Piece" featuring interviews with West and Ward, "The Batmobile Revealed" featurette, "The Batmobile Interactive Tour" 360-degree navigational tour, a "Holy Pop-Up Trivia Track, Batman!" subtitle fact track, no less than six still galleries ("From the Vaults of Adam West," "Interactive Pressbook," "Posters," "Production Stills," "Behind the Scenes," "Premiere"), and both the original and re-release theatrical trailers.
Exclusive to the Blu-ray will be a suite of three newly-produced featurettes: "Batman: A Dynamic Legacy," "Caped Crusaders: A Heroes Tribute" and "Gotham City's Most Wanted."
Finally, Fox has unveiled box art for 'Batman,' which receives a slick, logo-based new design:

Can't wait for Homer and the gang to hit Blu-ray? Here's a tantalizing first look at what's to come.
As we've previously reported, following a blockbuster run in theaters, Fox Home Entertainment will bring 'The Simpsons Movie' to Blu-ray on December 18th, jam-packed with extras (all presented in full 1080p video).
Included among the previously-announced goodies are two audio commentaries with multiple cast and crew, three featurettes, deleted scenes, a Homer monologue from the "Tonight Show," and alternate character designs from the show's creator, Matt Groening.
The BD-50 dual-layer release will come with 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track.
Now comes our first peek at the Blu-ray box art, and appropriately enough, in the few months between the film's theatrical release and its home video debut, it seems someone has managed to make a little more progress with that iconic donut from the film's theatrical marketing campaign:

High-Def Fans Fight the Box Art Blahs with Custom Cover Designs
Fri Dec 29, 2006 at 03:27 AM ETTags: Box Art (all tags)
Ever since the debut of the first HD DVD and Blu-ray discs, fans have bemoaned the cookie-cutter cover art that most supporting studios have adopted in order to create a more recognizable look for discs released on each format.
The most common complaint is that the artwork for the movie itself is forced to compete with the format's artwork -- those familiar swooshes of red (for HD DVD) or blue/steel (for Blu-ray).
Not surprisingly, it didn't take long for some early adopters to begin creating their own more movie-focused custom cover art. The first such cover to make the rounds was created by David Mackenzie (also known as "Lyris" online), a student in Scotland who posted alternative box art for the HD DVD release of 'Serenity' back in July:
Mackenzie told us that he has been creating custom DVD covers as a hobby for 5-6 years, and that he created the custom 'Serenity' box art after reading criticism of the official HD DVD art, which some fans have said make film look like a "cheap space porno."
Since Mackenzie's 'Serenity', custom box art for several other titles on both high-def formats have surfaced online, including this alternative take on the 'Underworld: Evolution' Blu-ray release, by AVSForum member DeathStalker2:
But perhaps the most popular alternative box cover to hit the web yet is the custom cover for the HD DVD release of 'Superman: The Movie,' also by DeathStalker2:
It was the popularity of the 'Superman' cover that prompted Evan Angelides, a software engineer from Rockville Centre, New York to offer up his own personal web space to help DeathStalker2 and other custom box artists more easily distribute their work. Angelides, who developed and distributes a free Plasma TV break-in DVD from his site, now hosts 13 alternative high-def box covers (including a couple Japanese imports), all available for free as high-res printer quality downloads.
And while the legalities of custom cover art are something of a murky area, given that there's no money changing hands, and that all participants are simply doing it out of "love for the sport," here's hoping that there will be lots more fan-made art in the high-def months and years to come.
