 We get another below average slow week this week, with another disc-ocalypse just around the corner. If every week were busy, burning the candle at both ends would not really be very sustainable, agreed?

 Welcome to Volume 4 Episode 46 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc the week of April 14th - April 20th, as well as a look at announcements from last week.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases-

 We actually do have a new release this week, that being Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: The Final Season, brought to us via Paramount. And since it's a final season, why not include The Complete Series while we are it it? Let us also offer up the obvious money grab, Jack Ryan Ultimate 5-Movie Collection. Maybe you held off buying this collection?

 From the Criterion Collection, Hungarian film Werckmeister Harmonies.

On the delayed list, The Faculty from Shout Factory to an undetermined date, and High Noon from Kino Lorber to May 7th. The latter still shows up on Amazon for a release this week, but official listings at Kino Lorber indicate otherwise.

 Word of caution -- Disc-ocalypse, part two is just 2 weeks away!

Blu-ray releases-

 Blu-ray counterparts of the above 4K releases includes Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: The Final Season (not available to order at press time-alternate WALMART LINK) and Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: The Complete Series from Paramount. Also available, Werckmeister Harmonies from Criterion.

 For the rest of this category, it is a bit slow. But as always, here are the highlights...

 Shout Factory has a new 'Select' release of 1997 drama Affliction.

 Universal has the latest comedy sequel, Half Baked: Totally High. Amazon has their stupid Allied Vaughn placeholder for the studio still, but it really is Universal.

 Also from Universal, the latest season in the series, The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die.

 From Sony Pictures, 1991 crime drama City of Hope. Under the Sony Pictures Classics label (NOT Allied Vaughn as Amazon shows), the Polish animated drama The Peasants.

 Just one release in the anime category this week, Rozen Maiden: The Complete Series.

 Star Trek: Lower Decks - Season Four comes to disc this week via Paramount.

Notable announcements from last week:

 In the 'You're Welcome' category, Francis Ford Coppola's One from the Heart: Reprise  will be coming to domestic 4K from LionsGate on May 7th. You're Welcome because I bought the import literally a month ago. Any other titles you would like me to import?

 Warner Bros. has announced that Dune: Part Two will be coming to blu-ray and 4K on May 14th. Specs would indicate it will *not* include the IMAX ratio.

 Sony Pictures Entertainment has announced that Madame Web will be released on April 30th to blu-ray and 4K format.

 In entertainment industry news, Universal All-Access Rewards will be completely closed on July 31st. Seldom did this program offer physical rewards, but I would use it to add digital copies to my locker of titles that often times got licensed out to boutique labels for disc production. Boutique labels almost never include digital copies, so that was a nice side gig.

 Welcome to Volume 4 Episode 45 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc the week of April 7th - April 13th, as well as a look at announcements from last week.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases-

 4K catalog week, part deux, or is it part tres. No matter, here's what to look for this week. Two weeks to the next wallet-buster.

 From Paramount Pictures, the SteelBook of King Kong (1976). Shout Factory very recently did a blu-ray release of this one. The lesson we learned from the Shout release was not to go in with high expectations as the source material has a few issues. Still, I expect this release to look the best of all the previous releases.

 From the Criterion Collection, Picnic at Hanging Rock. When I ordered the Second Sight UK fat-pack some time back, I did so knowing full well that Criterion would probably be doing a US release. But at the same time, Criterion does not offer it in a fancy edition or a swag filled fat-pack, so I am still happy with what I got.

 From Massacre Video and (maybe) this week, action/horror Postal.

 Closing out the category, an MPI Mediabook of Don Lee's The Roundup: No Way Out. For now, to get the original film with a Mediabook, it's blu-ray only.

Blu-ray releases-

 Blu-ray counterparts of the above 4K releases? This week look for The Roundup: No Way Out, in a standard edition blu-ray.

 The rest of the category has a little bit of wallet-recharge vibe to it. Here are a few things though that you may want to ponder.

 Two entries from Universal Pictures, Lisa Frankenstein: Collector's Edition and Night Swim: Collector's Edition. Are studios overusing the term Collector's Edition? If you are hollaring Where's the 4K? to truly make it a Collector's Edition, I won't disagree with you here. Not every movie gets such a physical release, but then some just seem inevitable. Whether a 4K double-dip is on our future, by Universal or Turbine, that is to be determined. [Edit: A UK 4K edition for Lisa Frankenstein is already available for preorder with a sttreet date in June, and it looks like Night Swim is coming in May, so, back to posing the original question to Universal/Blumhouse. Some people don't link importing though as there is a small chance of compatibility issues. Often times the enclose blu-ray on these UK releases are region locked.]

 Doom Patrol: The Complete Fourth and Final Season comes to us via Warner Bros. You can also get a Complete Series set if you waited for this point of the series.

 From the MVD Rewind Collection label, action flick Mean Guns: Collector's Edition.

 The only Anime Highlight this week is Peter Grill and the Philosopher's Time Super Extra (Season 2). I feel like we have been stuck at the previous season for awhile, so this is quite welcome.

 If you have been waiting for the non-Walmart Exclusive edition of Winnie the Pooh: Blood & Honey, it comes as a standard release this week. Can you believe there are already two sequels to this? One is already made, the other is in the works. The film was made on a low budget, and there are a couple of territories which it is available as a 4K disc, but those releases are probably not much of an upgrade.

 Worthy Mention: Fourteen years after Warner Bros releases it, Shout Factory brings us a new edition of Lost in Space: Collector's Edition.

Notable announcements from last week:

 Paramount has revealed the next Paramount Presents label title to be Chinatown, as a 4K release with a bonus blu-ray of Two Jakes. Expect to see this release June 18th.

 LionsGate will be releasing a blu-ray of Blumhouse's Imaginary on May 14th. Yup, I will say it again this time .... Blumhouse, what's with the lack of 4K releases of so much of your library? Time to catch up with 2024.

 Shout Factory's various labels have revealed releases for June. They are an interesting slate that include Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning, Matinee 4K, Robocop (2014) 4K, Robocop 2 4K,  The First Slam Dunk and Species II 4K. Yeah, my video wall is probably going to burst with that slate.

 With the week of Easter upon us, an average week of 4K disc releases this week, how well did you fare last week? I'd be lying if I said I bought nothing.

 Welcome to Volume 4 Episode 44 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc the week of March 31st - April 6th, as well as a look at announcements from last week.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases-

 Another week of catalog titles in the 4K category, which is A-OK as there are so many releases we would like to see!

 Coming off the wish list and moved to the now list, first from Paramount Pictures, sports comedy Major League. This one is also available as a SteelBook edition.

 And next, from Criterion collection, French drama La haine.

 Next, let's put a spotlight on Walmart for taking over the "Exclusive SteelBook Edition" releases after Best Buy chose to abandon physical media. This week all the exclusives are LionsGate releases. Debuting to 4K disc for the first time, action/adventure Cutthroat Island. Currently out of stock, just keep checking is the advice I would give you. Just this past week I ordered Silent Night 4K, it was out of stock since release date (January) but is now available again.

 Next are a few double (or triple or quadruple, or I lost count) dips, we see where John Rambo started and ended, referring to First Blood and Last Blood. These are the kind of releases that if you "maybe" want them, but then hold off and miss out, you might kick yourself. Sounds like a justifiable excuse, no?

 And if you know which movies I am referring to when I say retired and extremely dangerous, you win bragging rights this week! Formerly available as single releases, and an obsure 2-movie collection that went OOP, now you can get Red 1 & 2 as a Walmart Exclusive SteelBook. I call these sleeper titles, I had never heard of them, then sat down and watched the first and was pretty impressed, so I had to seek the sequel as well, then of course 4K.

 Next week, more of the same with regards to it being a catalog title week. Still ample opportunities to spend spend spend.

Blu-ray releases-

 There are no Blu-ray counterparts of the above 4K releases, hey, recharge that wallet from last week right?

 As far as blu-ray releases in general this week, there are a lot of "B" titles on the list. One person's junk is another person's treasure. Without judgment, here are the highlights.

 Anime highlight this week includes just Black Bullet - Complete Collection, which is a reissue with a different cover.

 Who wouldn't want a cheap-budget trash Easter horror during the week of Easter? Check out Easter Bloody Easter.

 MPI now has the rights to distribute Stigmata, and it is available as both a Mediabook and a standard edition.

 To the rescue comes the land from down under.  Imprint Films' and Imprint Asia's March batch of titles is available at Amazon USA this week, they include:

Notable announcements from last week:

 Warner Bros has announced an offical street date of May 14th for American Sniper to 4K disc. In their standard formula, the UK will be getting a more elaborate release with more special features and swag. Editor Matthew Hartman made a comparison of the UK getting a far superior release of this film to the UK getting an all out deluxe release of The Patriot (Mel Gibson). I would love to hear from Warner Bros why they think the US market doesn't want the nicer releases. I know they tried it in the past, but those releases had f'ugly covers and less desirable swag.

 Last week I mentioned that Se7en was likely going to be released in May. No sooner did the article publish and we found out the film is getting an IMAX revisit and a newer scan, so it has been pushed to probably Winter 2024.

 Arrow Video has announced their June 2024 titles. American Gigolo will be available on blu-ray, 4K and an Arrow Store Exclusive 4K. The latter offers a much better cover art, nothing else, but that's enough for me to order it. Mute Witness will also be getting a blu-ray and 4K release. Arrow UK will also be releasing Withnail and I and Madman to 4K. Madman was released by Vinegar Syndrome last year. For UK blu-ray, they will be releasing Nightsiren (Svetlonoc) as well.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases-

 It's another boutique label week in the 4K category, and that is A-OK. The 4K category is almost reasonable to manage this week.

 Import Monday begins with A Blade in the Dark from 88 Films. (Vinegar Syndrome did this release one year ago.)

 Also from 88 Films, a pair of releases listed as part of their "Tigon Collection",  The Blood on Satan's Claw. The other title being Witchfinder General. I would not be surprised if these titles to be delayed, 88 Films releases frequently get pushed back at least once.

 Formerly done by Cauldron Films in the US, Arrow Video's take on City of the Living Dead. Currently only available via Arrow's direct site. If we get an Amazon or Zavvi link, we will provide it for you.

 Moving on to Domestic Tuesday, let's begin with Kino Lorber and comedy/sports film North Dallas Forty, starring Nick Nolte. Then let's go to a comedy/musical with Clint Eastwood titled Paint Your Wagon. I know you might be confused right about now with Eastwood not being in a Western back then, but it did happen!

 The Criterion Collection this week has the comedy To Die For with Nicole Kidman, Joaquin Phoenix and Matt Dillon.

 Spine number 43 in the 'Paramount Presents' line comes out this week, Primal Fear with Richard Gere.

 Severin has your back if you're not looking to import, this week Burial Ground becomes available. Also, if you did not opt for the limited edition, a standard edition of The Spider Labyrinth is also available.

 We don't see Blue Underground very often, but when we do, their releases are usually top-notch. What have they got for us this week? Try Night of the Blood Monster (The Bloody Judge) with Christopher Lee.

 Tinto Brass in 4K? Tinto Brass in 4K! Cult Epics this week has All Ladies Do It.

 A pair of Indicator Series horror releases that were delayed a month or so, Patrick and Snapshot truly appear to be on track for a Tuesday release.

  For those waiting for a standard release of The Warriors from Arrow video, the wait is over.

 Import Friday (well, not really import) offers up Dead End Drive-In via Umbrella Entertainment and Amazon US.

 Next week we can collect our thoughts and recharge, just a few catalog titles to look at, some of them are Walmart Exclusives.

 It has been a long time since we have had a big week like this. If I told you there were close to a hundred titles, I would not be that far off. Selectively pick or splurge, your choice!

 Criterion also has something in the blu-ray category this week, foreign drama titled Saint Omer.

 TV on disc this week includes Midsomer Murders: Series 24, Monk: Season Five and Wednesday: The Complete First Season. The latter title is a big hit and available in 4K with Dolby Vision, just a bit frustrating we get neither on disc at home. Maybe later, or maybe an import.

 Warner Archive Collection this week has 3 Godfathers, The Boob and Why Be Good?, The Little Drummer Girl, Money Talks, Stand and Deliver and They Drive by Night.

 Anime highlights include Boruto: Naruto Next Generations - Set 17, Berserk - The Complete 1997 TV Series, Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War: Part 1, also available as a Limited Edition, 'Fist of the North Star: The Legend of the True Savior - Legend of Kenshiro Movie' and Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid.

 From Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures, Good Burger 2 arrives this week.

 Several more Indicator releases this week, but in the blu-ray category, look for The Bat Woman, The Panther Women and Santo vs. the Riders of Terror.

 From LionsGate this week, a biography/sports drama titled The Iron Claw.

 Special Mention of two titles that Shout Factory has released as shop exclusives, The Crow: Salvation and Venomous.

 Honorable Mention: Volume 18 is out this week, talking about Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema XVIII. If you've been collecting them, here is another.

Notable announcements from last week (and other stuff):

 I recently watched the 70s TV show CHiPs on Prime video and I got to tall ya, it looks absolutely fantastic. The 16:9 reframing looks great too. If they can give us HD upgrades on classic TV shows via streaming, the work is half done, sell us the show on disc! Even if Mill Creek does it, offering an upped bitrate from their norm, I would be all over it.

 Although not officially announced yet, I would expect to see the UK 4K release of Se7en to have an official street date of April 22nd. Amazon US has both the What's in the Box? and Ultimate Collector's releases listed as May 3rd. A US release in the typical movie-only setup (Warner usually gives the UK deluxe sets while giving the US barebones releases) would also be expected around that time.

 Warner Bros appears on track to be releasing The Terminator to 4K in the near future.

 Paramount Pictures has Rango due for a 4K SteelBook on June 4th. They also rumored to be working on Purple Rain and Team America for 4K release.

 Yeah, as we somehow survived the barrage of titles last week, we get that one-two punch that carries into this week. You really didn't need to make that mortgage payment anyway, did you?

 Welcome to Volume 4 Episode 42 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc the week of March 17th - March 23rd, as well as a look at announcements from last week.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases-

 This week is a good news bad news week in the 4K category. The good news, there are no new releases pining for your attention. The bad news, there are a lot of great catalog/boutique labels that are pulling at your purse strings that much harder. Resistance is futile.

 Import Monday includes several titles. First from Second Sight, a pair of "fat-pack" limited edition releases, Green Room and Possessor. You can also get those as standard editions as well if you are not down with the swag, Green Room and Possessor. I am a sucker for these Second Sight fat-packs. I don't mind giving Diabolik DVD my business, but the going price of $50 a piece price tag is something to balk at. That actually is cheaper than buying directly from Amazon UK and my orders do not get regularly canceled.

 From 88 Films, their take on The Amityville Horror (1979).

 On to Domestic Tuesday. Beginning with Kino Lorber, the drama/thriller Changing Lanes is up first, and it stars Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Affleck.

 And next on the 'inevitable' release docket, The Manchurian Candidate (2004). When we saw the original 1962 version come out, it was merely a matter of time. Which version do you prefer? This time though it wasn't the original studio releasing one and Kino Lorber the other.

 Scream Factory is the next label this week and they have a trio of skus coming Tuesday. The first two are considered remakes, we get Child's Play (2019) and Carrie (2013).

 Delayed from 3 months ago, but finally seeing light of day, The Ring Collection materializes this week. Not too long after I imported the trilogy from Germany on blu-ray, this was announced. The story of my life. Hopefully The Grudge films is next?

 Under the same house, but with the "Select" Label, Shout releases K-19: The Widowmaker to 4K disc.

 Arrow Video has the original Japanese release of the film titled Dark Water. Also available as an Arrow Store Exclusive Cover Edition. Does this mean that Scream Factory will do the English language remake? We went from Ringu to The Ring, so maaaayybe.

 Also from Arrow Video, a standard edition to Witness. This one sold out pretty fast as a limited edition, so here is a swagless release.

 Import Wednesday comes from the land down under via Umbrella Entertainment with Dead End Drive-In: Collector's Edition. A standard edition will be available at Amazon US in a couple of weeks.

 Donning a 4K slip SteelBook Edition, Barb Wire gets a release from Turbine Entertainment. Follow our link to the article to decide which one is best for you.

 Criterion Collection has announced their June slate of titles. For 4K, the titles are Blue Velvet, Bound and Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas. For blu-ray, titles are Bound, Querelle, The Underground Railroad and Victims of Sin. When I imported Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas via Arrow Video, I knew it was inevitable that Criterion would do it, but I am not disappointed with my Arrow release one bit.

 Between this week and next, you might need to draw from your equity line of credit if you truly buy everything you want. Those three James Cameron titles finally (maybe?) hit the streets, three new title releases, and more. And that's just the 4K category. If you are budgeted to buy just 4 titles this week, you will probably buy the 3 Cameron releases, so which one is your 4th title?

 Welcome to Volume 4 Episode 41 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc the week of March 10th - March 16th, as well as a look at announcements from last week.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases-

 In general, we normally post the new releases first. But this week is not a normal release week. Let us begin with the three James Cameron titles we have waited decades for to hit blu-ray, but now (maybe) get them in 4K and blu-ray in the same package. BONUS! My reluctance to say they are finally here is that I do not have them in my hands, nor have I seen them in retailer back rooms yet either. Some merchants have even pushed the street date to next week, which tells me the ETA in their stock rooms will be Monday afternoon, or Tuesday if we're lucky.

 The Disney company has overused the term Ultimate Collector's Edition, but this week all three Cameron titles don that label, for a good reason. Dolby Vision, BD100 discs, lots of extras, this batch has it all.

 First in the trio of releases, the title that got a remaster a couple of years ago and was on Prime video among other sites and had a lot of us speculating a future release, The Abyss finally arrives. Finally my video wall will have this one, Deepstar Six and Leviathan all over again! At press time Amazon's stats say they sold over 10K+ copies in the last month.

 Next in our trio of James Cameron releases, Aliens. In addition to it being a serious action thriller, the scene that sticks out the most to me in a comical sense was Bill Paxton's character saying "Game Over Man!" Amazon's stats show 7K+ were ordered last month.

 Someone pinch me, the third title is here (maybe) and hopefully is a major upgrade to that blu-ray we had to import from Spain, referring to True Lies. Don't be 'stuck' in the van unless it has a big screen and a killer sound system, grab your copy NOW, if you can find it. Just like Aliens, 7K+ were ordered last month alone.

 And now back to our regularly scheduled programming, let's see what New Releases we are getting this week.

 First from Warner Bros, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Ranked 35% on Rotten Tomatoes, but with an 81 audience score, not sure what to really think about this one. You can also/alternately snag a Walmart Exclusive Steelbook.

 Also from Warner Bros, The Color Purple (2023) get a 4K disc release, and this one ranks 82% on the Tomatometer, with an audience score of 95. What does the remake do that the original does not? The simplest answer is it adds elements from the stage musical. Hopefully by press time we will have a review ready.

 And the third (and final) new release 4K this week is Disney's Wish - Walmart Exclusive SteelBook. When it was originally announced we expected a standard 4K from the Disney Movie Club. In light of recent news of the club closing its doors, that is not happening.

 On to catalog titles, first with Dreamworks Animation, Kung Fu Panda. With Kung Fu Panda 4 hitting theaters, releasing the first 3 only make sense. Now if they would release the TV Series to blu-ray! (hint hint)

 The Shout Select label this week is offering Quigley Down Under. Tom Selleck NOT driving a Ferrari? Yeah, he did do that.

 From Paramount, because they were so successfuly, reprints of SteelBooks of Dragonslayer, Event Horizon and The Running Man are available this week.

 Now then, that wasn't too damaging, was it? If there were multiple box sets, one would say YES. Next week is a bunch of boutique label releases, we finally get The Ring Collection, more Shout Factory, Kino Lorber and Arrow Video.

Blu-ray releases-

 The rest of the blu-ray category looks pretty crowded, so best of luck resisting temptation on a spending spree.

 New release from 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures, Poor Things. Available in 4K via streaming, getting just a blu-ray is slightly infuriating and more common now that Disney owns the Fox label. Could be worse I suppose, DVD only!

 New rom-com from Sony Pictures with Anyone But You. I'd swear this came out a couple of weeks ago, but apparently not.

 From Universal Pictures, The Prince of Egypt: The Musical.

 Get your fill of action and suspense with I.S.S. from Decal Bleecker. While we are on sub-labels and action films, Freelance comes out from Relativity Media. And the Michael Mann biography/drama Ferrari comes via Neon.

 Ever heard the names John Wayne, Lauren Bacall or Ron Howard? How 'bout Don Siegel ? This week from Arrow Video we get all four with The Shootist (Limited Edition).

 Warner Archive Collection has a couple of titles for us this week, Colt .45: The Complete Series and Looney Tunes Collector's Choice: Volume 3.

 Boutique label Criterion Collection has a pair of blu-ray releases this week. First, 1941's fantasy romance All That Money Can Buy (a.k.a. The Devil and Daniel Webster). Then, shifting gears to a documentary, Laura Poitras’s All the Beauty and the Bloodshed.

 Anime highlights include Akiba Maid War: Complete Collection, The Legendary Hero Is Dead! - The Complete Season, One Piece: Season Thirteen - Voyage Six and  Suzume: Movie, which is also available as a Limited Edition and as a Walmart Exclusive SteelBook.

 TV on disc other than Warner Archive Collection also includes All Creatures Great and Small - Season 4, Rick and Morty: Season 7, also available in a SteelBook Edition,  Sonic Prime: Season One and Stephen King's The Shining (1997).

Notable announcements from last week:

 Shout Factory has announced much of their May releases. In no particular order, look for blu-rays of The Island of Dr. Moreau Collector's Edition (1996), Dracula 2000 and Orphan, and for 4K, look for The Addams Family 1&2, Gretel & Hansel and Killer Klowns from Outer Space, which the latter will also have a SteelBook release.

 Disney is releasing more Disney+ content to blu-ray and 4K disc. Andor, Moon Knight, Obi-Wan and Falcon and the Winter Soldier are coming April 30th.

 Jason Statham's The Beekeper is coming to blu-ray and 4K disc on April 23rd.

For people like me, I look forward to 4K releases, and I tell ya, this week is a great week to prepare ourselves for what next week is going to bring! It's sort of a calm before the storm. Keep both hands on the wheel as we get through this week and into next.

Welcome to Volume 4 Episode 40 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc the week of March 3rd - March 9th, as well as a look at announcements from last week.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases-

 Walmart Monday has Brawl in Cell Block 99, Children of the Corn (2020),  Mayhem and Prisoners of the Ghostland available as 4K Walmart Exclusive SteelBooks.

 Just TWO releases this week in this category on Tuesday. First, from Universal and another upgrade to a recently released blu-ray, action/thriller The 355.

 And second, from Paramount and a straight-up double-dip of sorts, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, but as a standard edition (rather than from the 'Paramount Presents' line.) Relatively sure these are the exact same discs as the previous release, check out the review to see if it's right for you.

Next week could be walletmageddon, walletpocalypse, bank breaker, credit card maxxer, need a new line of credit, insert witty financial pun here, all of the above! Those James Cameron titles we have been eagerly awaiting for for YEARS, the next Aquaman, The Color Purple remake, Wish, a bunch of Shout Factory titles, and more!

Blu-ray releases-

 Blu-ray counterparts of the above 4K releases? Look to the past, we already have them.

 The volume of blu-rays this week is also lower than normal. Not gloom and doom, there are plenty of preorders still on the books, this week is just slow like the 4K category.

 Walmart Monday brings exclusive SteelBooks, this week look for Kickboxer, Little Monsters, Shivers and V/H/S/Triple Feature.

  Anime highlight this week includes just RWBY: Ice Queendom - The Complete Season.

 Shout Factory brings back a memorable to me title, Over the Edge. What I remember most is how much havoc these kids did.

 I know we are all itching for this in 4K, and anything (it seems) related to James Wan and/or Blumhouse seems to be hit or miss (mostly miss). SAW 10-Film Collection 20th Anniversary Edition is available Tuesday. A fancy looking set with all 10 films in it.

 Honorable mention: This one from Oscilloscope is getting a fair amount of attention with some of the Hollywood circles. Classified as a fantasy horror, Moon Garden is on track for a Tuesday release.

 Amazon US has the February batch of Imprint titles available Friday, they are Children of Heaven, The Dresser, Face to Face  (Ansikte Mot Ansikte), I'm Not Scared (Io Non Ho Paura), A Man in Love (Un Homme Amoureux) and Mountains of the Moon.

 With the final week of the month essentially here, March will bring us all sorts of things. An excuse to be Irish, an uptick in disc releases, major college basketball action, Spring. What does March mean for you?

 Welcome to Volume 4 Episode 39 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc the week of February 25th - March 2nd, as well as a look at announcements from last week.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases-

 Before we kick off Tuesday's slate, let's look at Monday. Nope, not for imports either, but rather a new term, 'Walmart Monday.' Walmart Exclusive SteelBooks of previously released catalog titles (mostly Shout! Factory or RLJ Entertainment) all appear to have Monday street dates. That pattern is not just this week either, but coming weeks. Titles this week include Creepshow, Dragonheart, The Magnificent Seven (1960) and Platoon.

 Moving on to Tuesday, the new release this week is Wonka from Warner Bros. Alternately, there is also a Walmart Exclusive SteelBook available.

 Next and on to catalog titles, from Warner Bros., Steven Soderbergh's Contagion. Is it a drama, is it a thriller? YES.

 Kino Lorber has a pair of releases this week with an early Stanley Kubrick work, Fear and Desire. And, the 1957 edition of Gunfight at the O.K. Corral with Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas.

 From Vinegar Syndrome, the general release of The Horrible Dr. Hichcock. If you want the release with the limited edition slipcase, follow the link in the description, or follow this link.

 Sort of echoing Dr. Hichcock, Southern Comfort also gets a standard release, with the original limited release available here.

 From the Vinegar Syndrome partner label Cinématographe, a well represented release of Little Darlings. Amazon is offering this special release too, so there is no need to visit VS if this is all you would like to purchase.

 From Criterion Collection, The Roaring Twenties. Just reading the first paragraph of David's review has me off the fence and ready to order this one. (Like the well dressed men with Tommyguns wasn't enough?)

 Somewhat of a double-dip, All Quiet on the Western Front now becomes available in a SteelBook. No doubt the same exact discs as the mediabook release from last March.

 And lastly, available Friday the BFI import of The Wages of Fear. This title was released on February 19th, but we found an Amazon US link when the Amazon UK link became unavailable for purchase.

 Oh-Oh, there is more. As a last 3.5 second release announcement, Universal has decided to grace us with Illumination animated title Migration for a release this week. Quack Quack!

 Another slow(ish) week next week. Meanwhile March 12th is going to be ridiculously busy with those James Cameron releases, more catalog titles and THREE new release titles.

 In the comedy horror department, LionsGate has Dream Scenario with Nicolas Cage. Also available this week in the Western genre, The Night They Came Home.

 From Searchlight Pictures, the blu-ray release of Next Goal Wins.

 TV on disc this week includes Fear the Walking Dead: The Complete Eighth Season and Monk: Season Four.

 Anime highlights this week include (gotta love the length of some of these titles) Chillin' in My 30s After Getting Fired From the Demon King's Army: The Complete Season, Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure, Extreme Dinosaurs - Complete Series, Hand Maid May - Complete Collection and I've Somehow Gotten Stronger When I Improved My Farm-Related Skills - Complete Collection and Puss 'N Boots: Around the World.

 Collectors of Kino Lorber's Film Noir box sets can get Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema XVII this week.

 Honorable Mention: From Radiance Films and available for the first time on blu-ray worldwide, the drama/history Allonsanfan.

Notable announcements from last week:

 Reported by The Digital Bits and other outlets, Disney is shutting down their movie club and getting out of the physical media business. Now that the shock is over, what does this mean? In this case they are partnering with Sony to do future releases. Time will tell if this is a positive thing or a negative. Will Sony have more autonomy to release catalog titles from Fox? Will Sony release a 4K where otherwise Disney would have done a standard blu-ray? Will we finally be rid of the BD66 HDR10 Atmouse shell? Will this just be a glorified licensing agreement where Sony has to beg Disney for rights to produce a disc? I also have doubts of future inclusion of digital codes, afterall, they're trying to push their monthly subscription fees on us. One last thing... what becomes of Disney Movie Insiders, their rewards site? We will no doubt know more in the coming weeks or months, so stay tuned.

 We now have a street date for the 4k releases of Brandon Lee's The Crow from Paramount, that would be May 7th. The next Paramount Presents release will be a 4K of Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in the West. Expect that one a week later, May 14th.

 Sony Pictures will be releasing Steel Magnolias to 4K as a 35th Anniversary Edition on April 23rd.

 Arrow Video has revealed their May 2024 slate. For the US and Canada (and UK on select titles), titles include Narc, blu-ray and 4K skus, Crimson Peak 4K, Pandemonium blu-ray and Night Falls on Manhattan. For the UK exclusively, a 4K release of The Long Good Friday.
 Kino Lorber adds new titles to their up and coming list quite regularly. The one that stood out last week to me was the 1955 release of The Ladykillers to 4K and blu-ray. I very strongly considered the StudioCanal Vintage Classics release from several years ago.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases-

It's a NO on the import Monday or Friday docket, and there are no New Releases either. But, let's get started on Domestic Tuesday catalog titles...

First from Paramount, Beverly Hills Cop III. Many that are not fans of this one are probably trying to compare it to the first 2 films, just don't do it. The completionist in me is glad to see it. And if you held out for the 3-Movie Collection, that's available too.

 Next, Shout! Factory brings us 90s thriller Darkman. There is also a general release SteelBook option available as well.

A pair of releases come from Kino Lorber this week. First, action/thriller The Last Castle with Robert Redford and James Gandolfini. And next, in the we sort of expected it category, Leviathan gets a shiny new 4K release. When I think of underwater movies of that era, I think The Abyss, Deepstar Six and of course, this one.

From Criterion, The Heroic Trio / Executioners. If the big "C" wasn't on the fron cover, you would swear this was an Arrow Release.

And the last one in the 4K section, Sony Pictures offers us Paprika (2006), with Dolby Vision and a Dolby Atmos (Japanese) track. It is not 100% clear that the English 5.1 track is on the 4K disc, but one would certainly expect it to be.

Next week, between the Walmart Exclusives on Monday, and the Tuesday offerings, it could be another good sized and expensive week,

Blu-ray counterparts of the above 4K releases? Leviathan gets a new special edition this week from Kino Lorber. And Criterion delivers with The Heroic Trio / Executioners. Everything else we already have.

 If you have been following Criterion partner Janus Contemporaries, you would know that their next release, Afire is available this week.

 For the Criterion label itself, a period drama film titled Nothing But a Man.

 The next Kino Cult title,  spine number 6 comes out this week, titled Drifter.

 Look for The Luzhin Defence from Sony Pictures Classics this week.

 The Warner Archive release of Hanna-Barbera's Superstars 10: The Complete Film Collection awaits your order status. My order status is Pre-Ordered! Available individually as well, but the price of 3 or 4 gets you all 10, they are The Good, the Bad, and Huckleberry Hound, The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones, Rockin' with Judy Jetson, Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School, Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf, Scooby-Doo Meets the Boo Brothers, Top Cat and the Beverly Hills Cats, Yogi and the Invasion of the Space Bears, Yogi Bear and the Magical Flight of the Spruce Goose and Yogi's Great Escape.

 It's funny what a difference a single week makes. For 4K anyway, we go from a total drought to a well above average list. It's feast or famine I tell ya, and with the word Hunger in one of this week's releases, bring on the feast! This week could easily be a $500 week!

 Welcome to Volume 4 Episode 37 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc the week of February 11th - February 17th, as well as a look at announcements from last week.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases-

 Import Monday begins with a pair of titles. First from 101Films, look for Alligator. It comes in a fancy looking package and also includes a bonus blu-ray of Alligator II.

 And next from Arrow Video, a fat-pack release of Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978). Kino did an excellent domestic release, so if you're happy with that, probably no reason to import this. Note: Although a release date of the 12th, we had to update our link to Amazon US (with a 2/23 street date) because Amazon UK is showing sold out.

 If those didn't make your wallet tingle a bit, let's get ready to feel the burn with Domestic Tuesday releases.

 There are THREE new release titles this week. For movies, going with the higher rated one first (and probably better quality AV too... BD100/Dolby Vision), from LionsGate, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Available as a Standard Edition, an Amazon Exclusive Edition and a Walmart Exclusive SteelBook.

 And second, Disney/Marvel, 2023's The Marvels, which comes as a Standard Edition and a Walmart Exclusive SteelBook.

 Still in the new releases category, BBC Nature's Planet Earth III. This one still features David Attenborough behind the mic.

 It has been a short hop from there to here, Columbia Classics 4K Ultra HD Collection: Volume 4 becomes available this week. Six more films from their film vault to tide us over a bit. Can we say Volume 5?

 We got Flashdance, we got Dirty Dancing, it's only inevitable we also get Footloose from Paramount. Also available as a SteelBook featuring an alternative cover art. Thanks, now I got Kenny Loggins stuck in my head.

 Universal has another batch of 4K upgrades to recent blu-ray releases. First, Harriet, based on the story of freedom fighter Harriet Tubman. And second, Ticket to Paradise with George Clooney and Julia Roberts.

 Universal's final release of the week, (previously delayed from last year) Universal Classic Monsters: Limited Edition Collection. This one is limited to a quantity of 5500 and each one is individually numbered. I'm still trying to picture how this set will come, the photo shows a book and 8 loose discs.

 Shout! Factory brings us Willy's Wonderland, with what Bryan says is a great-looking video presentation. This one is also available as a general release (not Walmart exclusive) SteelBook.

 Friday import from Turbine Medien Group, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas gets a standard slipcover edition release.

 Next week's slate should be a bit gentler on our finances, a decent amount of releases, just not box sets. Get ready for Beverly Hills Cop III, Leviathan, Darkman, and a tad more!

 For Domestic Tuesday this week, we get the 1971 Western McCabe & Mrs. Miller starring Warren Beatty and directed by Robert Altman, brought to us by Criterion.

 Thursday releases, a pair of standard editions from Turbine Medien Group out of Germany, The Deep House and Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. They previously did media books for both titles, and neither title has gotten a 4K release in the US, see where this is going?

 Next week, watch out as we see a higher than average schedule. It's feast or famine I tell ya! The Marvels, Hunger Games, Footloose and a ton more!

 If you were a boutique label, this week would be a great week to sell sell sell! How about a horror that could easily be confused with a board game? Yeah, Candy Land would be that title.

 A relatively new label to the US, Radiance Films this week has the Japanese language drama The Sting of Death available to purchase.

 Weekly Anime highlights include Handyman Saitou in Another World - The Complete Season, Revenger - The Complete Season and Tears to Tiara - Complete Collection.

 Shout! Factory this week offers up the horror/thriller Funeral Home, as well as the sci-fi/thriller The Terminal Man: 50th Anniversary Edition. With Elon Musk in recent news behind a company offering neural implants, this one could become very real!

 If you have been following Jess (Jesús) Franco's career, you can check off another release with Voodoo Passion from Full Moon Features.

 In the blu-ray category next week, we see a slight uptick in titles available.

 The last couple of slow weeks I have shared a YouTube link or two. Have fun with this one.. if you like ABBA: Dancing Queen, it was remastered to 4K. So 70's! Mamma Mia anyone?

A decade forward and it's all about the hair, and the spandex. This one looks fantastic in 4K. Rick Astley!

 Shout! Factory's various labels have announced their April slate of titles. So far we are looking at Rolling Thunder on 4K, and for blu-rays, Affliction, Blue Giant, Lost in Space (movie) and Winnie the Pooh: Blood & Honey. Winnie The Pooh was already released to a Walmart Exclusive SteelBook last October, so this is a general release. There are 4K options for Pooh overseas, Italy, France and Germany.

 It's probably time to queue up that doom and gloom armageddon type music because this week could be very harmful to your wallets/credit card balances. Between 4K and blu-ray we have not seen a week this big in quite some time!

 Welcome to Volume 4 Episode 35 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc the week of January 28th - February 3rd, as well as a look at announcements from last week.

 Oh, and the tagline above, that's actually for Silent Night.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases-

 Import Monday begins with the 1971 Michael Caine crime/thriller Get Carter. Everything else that was slated for Monday got pushed back a couple of weeks.

 And moving on to Domestic Tuesday, let's begin with Silent Night - Walmart Exclusive SteelBook. If you want this one in 4K, Walmart is where you have to go as a standard edition 4K is currently not slated for release. I cannot confirm this yet but it appears this will be online only, which is a head-scratcher as this one would generate a lot of foot traffic.

 On to catalog titles, first from Severin Films for a trio of films, Bad Biology, Nightmare and The Psychic.

 From Kino Lorber this week, The Boogens and Scarlet Street.

 This week is the week to get your fix of Conan films from Arrow Video. The trio of skus include Conan the Barbarian, Conan the Destroyer and The Conan Chronicles. The Conan Chronicles shows a release date of February 20 on Amazon, but Arrow Video has indeed confirmed it still has a January 30th street date, and I did get a shipping confirmation from Arrow Video. My guess is Amazon will not get their stock until the 20th. With the B&N sale going on, Amazon appears to be matching the 50% off pricing, so pounce on this if you want it.

 MVD has their next Laservision Collection release this week with Cutting Class. Thus far this series of releases has been done quite well.

 From Vinegar Syndrome, general releases of D.A.R.Y.L., eXistenZ and The Prophecy I -II-III, and a store direct release of Freeway 1 & 2, which comes in a hard case. Collectors will generally opt for the direct store releases as they almost always contain nicer packaging, while the release on Amazon is a standard edition, often times no slipcovers or swag.

 Criterion this week offers up Trainspotting.

 Next week we get a chance to recharge wallets with just one title.

 Blu-ray counterparts of the above 4K releases include a lot,  Silent Night, Bad Biology, Nightmare, The Psychic, The Boogens, Scarlet Street, Conan the Barbarian, Conan the Destroyer, The Conan Chronicles, Cutting Class and Trainspotting.

 New Eli Roth horror Thanksgiving comes to blu-ray this week, which, in my opinion, a huge missed opportunity for a 4K release. Sony doesn't usually do the double-dip game as much as Universal does when it comes to a blu-ray first, 4K next, so, best of luck on waiting for a 4K disc. Maybe a Turbine release in the future?

 TV on disc includes The Abbott and Costello Show: Season 2 and Monk: Season Three.

 Warner Bros has made it official, Wonka will be streeting to 4K and blu-ray on February 27.

 Michael Mann's Ferrari will be coming to blu-ray on March 12. A 4K release is coming to Italy, and with Michael Mann at the helm I have to wonder if a 4K double-dip will be coming to the US.

 Arrow Video has announced their April 2024 slate, for the US market they include Basket Case in 4K, with a shop exclusive option, and blu-rays of The Scarface Mob and The Tin Star. There are no 4K imports to mention in this batch.

Welcome to Volume 4 Episode 34 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc the week of January 21st - January 27th, as well as a look at announcements from last week.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases-

 This week is like a sandwich, imports on both ends and domestic releases in the middle.

 For UK Import Monday, first from Arrow Video, their fat-pack for the 1976 horror Carrie.

 Next, Second Sight offers up their limited edition release of High Tension. If you want to save a few bucks and opt for the movie-only (no-swag) release, that's an option too. Don't assume these Second SIght titles will get a US release, some of them have thus far not gotten such a release. (Babadook, It Follows, and more)

 Domestic Tuesday's new release this week is DC Animated Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part One, which comes in a SteelBook package.

 And Kino Lorber brings us 1990's comedy Kindergarten Cop with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

 Import Friday brings us Super Mario Bros. 30th Anniversary from Umbrella Entertainment. Their web site offered a couple of swaggy sets as well if you wanted the maximum experience.

 Next week offers a lot more, with three Conan skus, Trainspotting, Silent Night, a couple of Severin titles, Vinegar Syndrome, and more.

Blu-ray releases-

 Blu-ray counterparts of the above 4K releases? Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part One from Warner Bros and (see below) Super Mario Bros from Umbrella Entertainment.

 The rest of the category is a bit slow this week, and just like the 4K section, next week is going to be huge.

Another light to moderate week for 4K titles, with blu-ray somewhere around normal. This gives us time to prepare for the end of the month's motherload.

Welcome to Volume 4 Episode 33 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc the week of January 14th - January 20th, as well as a look at announcements from last week.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases-

 For Import Monday, Second Sight's take on Mean Streets. It is reported to be the same transfer as Criterion's recent release, but of course more swaggy.

 With practically a one-week notice, Universal informs the world that Trolls: Band Together streets on the 16th. With that being said, a standard edition only, no SteelBook option or retailer exclusives this go round.

 From Synapse Films, Blood Feast (2016) gets that 4K upgrade. Between last week and this, we have three titles with the word 'Blood' in the title.

 Next, from Criterion Collection, a 90s Western titled Lone Star. Vague memories on this one.

 Still on target for a Tuesday release, Police Story 3: Supercop (standard edition) with Jackie Chan comes at us via 88 Films. This still leaves Police Story 2 4K as an import only, either as a trilogy set or by itself.

 And the final 4K title for this week, The Raid: Redemption from Sony Pictures and in a SteelBook package.

 Next week we see a couple of decent imports, another Justice League animated, and a bit of Aahnold comedy.

Blu-ray releases-

 Blu-ray counterparts of the above 4K releases includes Trolls: Band Together from Universal,  Blood Feast (2016) from Synapse Films and Lone Star from Criterion Collection. Doubling back to Trolls, as always, there's a what's out so far collection (Trolls 3-Movie Collection), blu-ray only, not 4K, as well as a Walmart Exclusive and a Target Exclusive. Again, not 4K, so I guess somehow us 4K collectors have no interest in retailer exclusives!??

 Omitting all the reprints this week, we are left with just a few more titles (by volume) than last week.

 From Sony Pictures and just in time for (next) Christmas, Journey to Bethlehem.

 The latest GKIDS animated release Ernest & Célestine: A Trip to Gibberitia comes to us via Shout! Factory.

 Arrow Video has a box set for us this week, Inside the Mind of Coffin Joe.

 Just one Anime highlight this week, Love Flops Complete Collection.

 Debuting to blu-ray this week from MGM, Mademoiselle (1966).

 Barnes & Noble right now through February 5th has Arrow Video titles at 50% off. No doubt Amazon will match prices on a majority of them as well. Great time to get those titles you have been waiting to get!

 Shout Factory has revealed multiple titles for March 2024, for 4K, K-19: The Widowmaker, Carrie (2013), Child's Play (2019) and Quigley Down Under. For blu-ray so far, Over the Edge and Stephen King's The Shining (TV Series).

 Upcoming from Paramount in 4K, Major League, which is also available as a SteelBook option as well, Contagion, and, Primal Fear as a Paramount Presents title.

 Universal is offering a couple of 4K upgrades, Harriet, The 355 and Ticket To Paradise.

 Disney has revealed their latest MCU title, The Marvels is coming to blu-ray and 4K February 13th. Disney Pixar's WISH will street March 12th.

 Best Buy appears to be beginning to dismantle their physical media operations. A visit to their web site shows a majority of titles not available for delivery, and the store closest to me has not restocked anything recently. For Exclusive SteelBooks in the future, it would appear Walmart will be the place to look.

 From Paramount, rom-com Varsity Blues. It stars Jon Voight, Paul Walker and more. Have a look-see.

 Next from The Criterion Collection, a crime thriller with a little bit of film-noir as well, Blood Simple.

 And lastly, I could be wrong about this (and the internet will no doubt submit a hundred messages stating I am), Massacre Video's first 4K release, BloodRayne. And YES, there is a video game series based on the same name/universe.

  Next week sees quite an uptick in titles, if you were expecting the Conan movies, those got moved back to the 30th though.

 Blu-ray counterparts of the above 4K releases? None this week. Moving on to a tepid slate...

 TV on disc, this one goes way back to 1967, Doctor Who: The Underwater Menace comes via BBC. This one is interesting as the original video masters were lost so they decided to make an animated recreation with the original audio.

 Classic Eddie Murphy standup comes to disc from Paramount with Eddie Murphy: Raw. Having HBO growing up, this one is memorable.

 For anime this week, look for Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?! Season 4 Part 2, One Piece: Season Thirteen - Voyage Four, 'The Tunnel To Summer, The Exit Of Goodbyes' and Tsurune The Movie: The First Shot.

 If you've been collecting them, it's time to get volume 16, Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema XVI debuts from Kino Lorber.

 How about a pair of Charles Bronson action films from Shout Factory, St. Ives and Telefon?

 Next week in blu-ray, about 50% more volume!

Notable announcements from last week:

 A bunch of onesie twosie updates happened last week among a lot of boutique labels primarily. I think one of the big titles from Vinegar Syndrome announced during subscriber week would be Walter Hill's Southern Comfort. Their new partner label Cinématographe also revealed Little Darlings (1980). I'm anxious to see what comes next from that label. VS announced a few days into the week they were on track to have a record number of subscribers. I for one would love an "All the 4Ks" sub for Kino Lorber and Shout/Scream Factory, with options to add blu-rays at a discount price of course. That would be me signaling to them that I support their efforts and want it all.

 Amazon has leaked a 4K release of Steven Soderberg's Contagion in 4K, with a February 27 street date. The packaging suggests it is a Warner Archive release.

The 2022 documentary focused on David Lynch's cinematic inspiration from The Wizard of Oz will be getting a Janus Contemporaries Blu-ray from The Criterion Collection on March 19.

 LionsGate has a 2023 crime/mystery film titled The Marsh King's Daughter.

 If you were a boutique label, this week would be the time to pounce with a title release.

 Shout Factory brings us Chuck Norris action with Forced Vengeance.

 The lone anime title this week is The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie.

 MGM has two catalog releases for us, Popi and Romantic Comedy.

 I have a few music video suggestions while I am at it. Some days I want pop music, other days dance, or even metal.  Did you know Michael Jackson's Thriller and Beat It Videos got official 4K remasters? When you watch Beat It, take a close look at the pool tables in the pool hall. With the Thriller video there is minimal banding, 100% most likely due to the compression requirements of YouTube. If you have the ability to play videos in the AV1 codec the quality is a little bit better.

And then if ya want to listen to some loud and heavy stuff, check the group State of Mine. This video (Careless Whisper), Devil Went Down To Georgia, Thunder Rolls (Third Verse Edition), In The Air Tonight and more:

 Leading off the week, with the best title of the category, The Man In The Iron Mask gets a 4k Shout Select release. I think most of us know Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeremy Irons and John Malkovich, right?

If I posted a smaller cover art for the same movie, would that help understand how few titles there are this week? Yeah, probably not. Next week Criterion holds the gauntlet for having the only release of the week, a small hint, it resembles the name of the store clerk's name in The Simpsons.

 New(ish) Western from Sony Pictures with Nicolas Cage, Butcher's Crossing.

 From 88 Films and currently on the revised schedule to release Tuesday, The Inspector Wears Skirts, a martial arts action film. The sequel has been announced for a March release date.

 With our last full week before the Christmas holiday,  there are still several ways to lighten that wallet a bit. From James Cameron asking for more cash, (I'm a) Believer, Bloodlines, Kino Cult, JFK and more.

 Welcome to Volume 4 Episode 29 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc the week of December 17th - December 23rd, as well as a look at announcements from last week.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases-

 Just like last week, new releases first, sorted by Rotten Tomatoes ratings, new(ish) releases and then catalog titles.

 First up, with an RT score of 22 and an audience score of 59, The Exorcist: Believer from Warner Bros. This one comes as a standard edition, a Best Buy Exclusive SteelBook and a Walmart Exclusive SteelBook.

 If scores of 22/59 led the category, it only goes down from there. Pet Sematary: Bloodlines sees an RT score of 22 and an audience score of 45. I saw it on Paramount+ and think those ratings are a bit harsh, but to each their own.

 Listed at the top rated release of the week two weeks ago, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season Two gets a standard (non-SteelBook) release this week.

 On to the new(ish) release category, Avatar: The Way of Water gets a Collector's Edition. Is this the shortest time frame we have double-dipped on a James Cameron release? Don't get me wrong, with each dip we get a lot more.

 And now sort of bridging our way to catalog titles, the original Avatar also gets a Collector's Edition.

 And NOT a colector's edition, Avatar gets that SteelBook we should have seen in June when they also released The Way of Water to Best Buy SteelBook. This is the same transfer as the one in June as well, same extras and such. Some sites are posting it as the 'Collector's Edition', which, except for the SteelBook, it is not.

 Shout Factory has a pair of releases this week, Stephen King's The Dead Zone, directed by David Cronenberg. I had watched the TV series long before the movie, both are fun. Would love to see the TV series get an HD release as well (hello LionsGate, or boutique label).

 And, Oliver Stone's JFK. This one looks like a fat-pack, but the four discs more than anything give it that size. Still, I think the wait for 'that' edition is over with this release.

 How about a Kino Cult release, but in 4K? Underworld (1985) debuts this week.

 From Arrow Video, a fat-pack release for The Warriors. And just like a few other recent releases, the traditional cover art is available as an Arrow Store exclusive.

 Next week we have to  s p r e a d  o u r  w o r d s  a bit with just one single title on the docket. Maybe I will post a couple of extra pictures too.

 Blu-ray counterparts of the above 4K releases include The Exorcist: Believer, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines and The Warriors.

 A loose counterpart, Avatar gets a remastered 3D special edition release.

  Some new, some reprints, MGM this week has AmericanEast, The Cutting Edge: Going for the Gold, Eureka (1983) and The Rachel Papers.

 The Sandpiper label with the same mission, this week they release High Spirits, Invaders from Mars and The Sure Thing.

 LionsGate's thriller of the week is Rumble Through the Dark.

 Anime highlights include Carole & Tuesday (Limited Edition), Farming Life in Another World - Complete Collection, Masaaki Yuasa: Five Films and My Hero Academia: Season 6 Part 1.

  TV on disc this week brought to us from Kino Lorber includes Columbo: Seasons 1-7 and Monk: Season Two.

 Arrow Video has a box set for us this week, Savage Guns: Four Classic Westerns Vol 3.

 Shout Factory releases their next Shaw Brothers box set, Shaw Brothers Classics: Vol. Four.

 Worthy Mentions: Following the footsteps of the first most excellent box set release, Severin Films this week offers Danza Macabra Vol. Two: The Italian Gothic Collection.

 Meg Ryan 2023 romcom What Happens Later comes to us via Decal Releasing.

 And if you have been following the Kino Cult series, the next blu-ray of the series releases this week, that title is Sinner.

 The blu-ray category (unlike the 4K category) is actually quite normal next week, despite the Christmas holiday.

 For those that were waiting for the third movie, Beverly Hills Cop 3 in 4K has finally been announced for February 20th, as well as the trilogy, in 4K.

 Arrow Video has revealed its March 2024 slate. US/Canada title The Shootist, US/Canada/UK includes Dark Water 4K and Dark Water 4K (Arrow Video Store Exclusive), and the UK only title City of the Living Dead 4K. The latter title was already done in the USA by Synapse, with a couple of different options available.

 Criterion Collection has also revealed their March slate, for blu-rays, All the Beauty and The Bloodshed, The Runner and Saint Omer. For 4K and blu-ray editions, To Die For.

 We did warn you last week, there is no other way to say it, this week's ultrahd (and blu-ray) guide may be ultra-dangerous to your wallets. We have a couple of notable imports, Cowabunga! (pizza sold separately), more Disney+ to disc, FNAF, Netflix movie to disc, and a ton more, and that's just 4K. Blu-rays are also coming out the ears with more than 60 titles.

 Welcome to Volume 4 Episode 28 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc the week of December 10th - December 16th, as well as a look at announcements from last week.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases-

 Import Monday kicks off with a new release first, The Wandering Earth II as a UK SteelBook from Cine-Asia. According to their FaceBook page, there will be an English dub on this release, just like their prior blu-ray release. It is unknown at this time if Well Go USA will follow through with a 4K release in the near future, but for now they have just a blu-ray scheduled.

 Next, not a long wait from the Part 1 release, Nadia: Secret of the Blue Water: Part 2 is available on Monday.

 After a short delay, Child's Play Collection from Arrow UK is also available on Monday. Read the disclaimer before buying. It's a nice looking set, adding a 4K disc from Shout Factory for the first movie would be a pretty simple solution.

 Delayed until January, Second Sight's release of High Tension. Maybe by then Criterion (or LionsGate) will also announce a US release.

 On to domestic releases, and starting with new releases first, and sorted by Rotten Tomatoes rankings seems the be a good way to proceed.

 If you were ready to shout cowabunga!, you were correct in the rankings. Scoring at 96%, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. This one is available as a Standard Edition, a Standard SteelBook Edition and as a Walmart Exclusive SteelBook Edition. Odd that both SteelBooks have the same cover art, but that's OK.

 Next, another streaming exclusive coming to disc, Disney's The Mandalorian, which gets a RT score of 90%. This series is available as a SteelBook, season sold separately, Season One and Season Two.

 Next, scoring a 66 at RT, sci-fi/war film The Creator, available via 20th Century Studios.

 The final new release of the week is Five Nights at Freddy's. This one scored a 31 at RT, but audiences felt it was an 87. It's that critic<>average Joe disparity we are seeing here. Work of art, NO, fun film, YES.

 How about a new(ish) release section this week?

 Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio comes to us from Netflix and via the Criterion Collection.

 And another streaming to disc feature, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story comes to us from The Roku Channel and via Shout Factory. Thank me for this release, I imported the Umbrella Entertainment version way back when.

 Now for catalog titles, Clue (1985) comes to us via Shout Factory. 

 Kino Lorber has a pair of releases this week, John Woo's action/crime film Face/Off, and the horror/mystery Suspect Zero.

 Well Go USA has 4K upgrades of The Man from Nowhere and The Wailing.

 Decal Releasing is offering up Oldboy (2003/Directed by Park Chan-wook) on a Collector's 4K disc as well that looks very much like an A24 shop release. Previous blu-ray releases did contain English dubs, so there is a good chance this one will as well.

 From Sony Pictures, Spike Lee's School Daze: 35th Anniversary.

 Arrow Video's The Warriors got a pushback to December 19th.

 Turbine Media Group has The Last Emperor available on Friday in several different options.

 Sony Pictures has the 2023 comedy/drama Dumb Money this week.

 New this week from Paramount, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie. Glad to see a blu-ray of this and not DVD only, unlike the two most recent live-action Monster High movies. This isn't 1995, our big screens demand blu-ray or better, thank you.

 From the Warner Archive this week, Anna Christie, Gentleman Jim, The Great Ziegfeld, Looney Tunes Collector's Choice: Volume 2, Madame Bovary, A Midwinter's Tale, Saving Grace and Tarzan, the Ape Man.
