Both offer a 1080p resolution, 10 bit color processor and a bright picture.

The W1100 and W1200 are the latest projectors from BenQ, both designed to provide "the ultimate in big screen entertainment."

BenQ's W11000 uses a twelve-lens optical system to provide an incredibly sharp picture. It offers 2,000 ANSI lumens brightness and a 4,500:1 contrast ratio. It also boasts a color management system that allows you to adjust the basics like hue, color temperature, gamma and more.

The W1200 offers 1,800 ANSI lumens and a 5,000:1 contrast ratio and an Advanced Color Wheel Coating that boosts color saturation. It also utilizes a Full HD optical system that virtually eliminates color delays.

The W1100 can be had for $1,499 while the W1200 costs $1,999.

It boasts a dual lamp setup, a strong contrast ratio, and a few features to ensure the best color accuracy possible.

The latest projector from BenQ is designed to be bright, clear and reliable, even in rooms with plenty of ambient light. The SH960 sports a 3000:1 contrast ratio and a color palette of 1.07 billion.

"For many professional applications as well as viewers who would like to enjoy a ballgame or movie with the lights on, projection does not come in a more vibrant and crystal-clear display than with the SH960," says BenQ VP Mitch Mauch. "We've combined extraordinary brightness with 1080p native resolution to enable stunning image quality even in settings where ambient light is difficult to control."

In addition to standards like an eco-mode to extend lamp life and lens shifting, the BenQ SH960 offers a Wall Color Correction feature that adjusts the picture to provide correct color even on walls that would normally throw it off.

The BenQ SH960 will be available in June at a price of $6,999.

Running the gamut of pricing and features, BenQ is bringing three new projectors to market.

At the lowest end of the spectrum of projectors announced by BenQ is the W600, which they refer to as the “sensible home entertainer”. Available soon in the UK at around $800 US, the W600 is capable of a 720p picture, a 3,000:1 contrast ratio and not a great deal else.

Stepping up to the W1000, which will sell at around $1,500 US, customers can expect full 1080p as well as more customization of color and picture. The W1000 features a 2,700:1 contrast ratio, and features UNISHAPE technology, which varies the brightness of the projector lamp in sync with the six segment color wheel.

BenQ’s W6000 is their top of the line model at around $4,000 US. It offers 1080/24p video as well as upconversion of standard definition sources. The contrast ratio for the W6000 kicks up to 50,000:1, and true 10-bit processing should ensure an excellent picture. Additional features of the W6000 include horizontal and vertical lens shift, 1.5:1 zoom ratio and the ability to display a 2.35:1 ratio using an optional Panamorph Lens.

BenQ’s new projectors are set to sell in the UK shortly, with no details currently about US releases.

BenQ To Introduce First Blu-Ray Read/Write Combo Drive

Computer electronics manufacturer BenQ says it will introduce the world's first Blu-ray optical drive that can both read and write data later this year, the company has announced.

Unveiled at a Taipei press conference earlier this week, BenQ representatives demonstrated a prototype drive designed for use in desktop computers that can both read and write Blu-ray discs, as well as standard DVDs and CDs.

"We have a prototype ready and we are going to ship [the product] before the end of the year," BenQ Chairman KY Lee told IDG News Service.

The company has not yet set an exact launch date for the unnamed optical drive, nor a set list price. However, Lee indicated that the device is likely to retail comparable to upcoming read-only Blu-ray optical drives from such manufacturers as Panasonic, which are expected to range from $500-$850US.

Formerly known as Acer Communications & Multimedia Inc., the company changed its name to BenQ Corporation in December 2001.
