Sherbourn Announces a New Preamp/Processor and Amplifier
Thu Sep 15, 2011 at 10:00 AM ETTags: Sherbourn, Preamps, Amplifiers (all tags)
Both are made for the high-end custom installer and are decked out with impressive features.
Sherbourn's newest amplifier, the PA-7350, delivers a whopping 350 watts of power across seven channels. It offers a variety of inputs and outputs, including XLR, and Sherbourn assures that it delivers clean, uncolored power and will do so for years to come thanks to the "Soft Switch" Class H power supply.
The new preamp/processor is just as impressive, offering Control4 and Ethernet control options and an impressive array of hardware. It boasts twin Cirrus 32-bit dual core DSPs that handle audio and provide 192kHz performance. It also boasts a Genesis/Torino 10-bit scaling engine for video.
Both the PA-7350 amplifier and PT-7020C4 preamplifier/processor have a release date and price that are yet to be announced.

Onkyo Debuts a THX Certified Preamp/Processor and Amplifier
Wed Sep 01, 2010 at 10:00 AM ETTags: Onkyo, Amplifiers, THX (all tags)
Both of Onkyo's massive new flagship models sport THX certification and more.
The PR-SC5508 is the latest preamplifier/processor to come from Onkyo. This 9.2 channel controller is the new flagship for the company and it's clear why. It's got a few web based features like Pandora and Napster capabilities and DLNA 1.5, but that's not where it really shines.
Inside the unit you'll find HQV Reon-VX processing that will take even the saddest resolution up to 1080p and ISF calibration abilities for each individual video source. It's also packed with features like Audyssey MultEQ XT 32 for the best possible sound in your room. Onkyo's PR-SC5508 will be out in September for $2,199.
The PA-MC5500 is a nine channel analog power amplifier that shares the same THX-Ultra2 Plus certification as the preamplifier it's made to complement. It's 8 ohm rated at 150 watts per channel, and can kick out as much as 400 watts at 3 ohms.
Onkyo's new flagship amplifier sports WRAT technology that keeps distortion low and frequency response wide. It's got custom transistors, a massive power supply with a toroidal transformer and a pair of 22,000 µF storage capacitors. You can pick up the PA-MC5500 when it launches this September for a price of $1,699.

Pioneer Launches New SACD Players and Amps
Mon Aug 09, 2010 at 10:00 AM ETTags: Pioneer, Amplifiers (all tags)
The new Elite products cater directly to audiophiles.
While the rest of the world is dealing with low-quality compressed audio and cheap earbud headphones, you're cranking out pristine audio from your CD and SACDs. You're a guy who cares about his audio, and you're the target of Pioneer's new Elite G-Clef line.
Both players – the PD-D6MK2 and PD-D9MK2 – consist of the same basic components, but the higher end model gets everything kicked up a notch. The D9MK2 has an isolated power supply, for example, a stainless steel CD mechanism and Wolfson DACs instead of Burr-Brown.
The SX-A6MK2 and SX-A9MK2 amplifiers are made to match the players. As you might imagine, the A9MK2 carries a few added benefits. It's got a motorized volume control, USB input, headphone and preamp outs, and a honeycomb chassis.
You'll be able to pick up the full G-Clef line later this month.
