The troubled film is now available to rent or own in digital format.
After initially canceling the film's original Christmas Day premiere in the wake of a major hacking attack, Sony Pictures has decided to release 'The Interview' through several online streaming platforms. The movie is now available on Google Play and YouTube. In addition, Sony has set up a dedicated site, SeeTheInterview.com, to watch the movie as well. Likewise, Xbox owners can access the film through Xbox Video.
In the action-comedy 'The Interview,' Dave Skylark (James Franco) and his producer Aaron Rapoport (Seth Rogen) run the popular celebrity tabloid TV show "Skylark Tonight." When they discover that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is a fan of the show, they land an interview with him in an attempt to legitimize themselves as journalists. As Dave and Aaron prepare to travel to Pyongyang, their plans change when the CIA recruits them, perhaps the two least-qualified men imaginable, to assassinate Kim Jong-un.
For now, the film will also see a limited theatrical release on December 25 in about 300 independent movie theaters across the country. Online rentals are priced at $6 while online purchases will cost $15.
