Yesterday, following the shocker of 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' Xbox One exclusivity, we got a bit of an explanation from the Crystal Dynamics side of things. Now, from Xbox Chief Phil Spencer's own comments on the subject, it's confirmed that 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' is only exclusive to Xbox consoles for a limited duration. From Spencer, speaking with Eurogamer:
"I have Tomb Raider shipping next holiday exclusively on Xbox. It is Xbox 360 and Xbox One. I'm not trying to fake anybody out in terms of where this thing is. What they do with the franchise in the long run is not mine...Yes, the deal has a duration. I didn't buy it. I don't own the franchise."
Spencer wouldn't say how long the deal lasts, only that "Holiday 2015" belongs to Xbox in 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' world. Also, for those interested, Spencer has no intention of revealing the amount of money changed hands.
